For the rest of you who are just tuning into the event, you may read a little bit about the Centro de Salud, by viewing the second section below called: "2) Background Information about the Auction." Finally, read the third section below called: "3) What is a Silent Auction?" to understand how the bid will be run.

2) The bidding will close at 7pm sharp, and the final bidder must be present at this time to pay for and receive their item.

2) Background Information about the Auction
As health care volunteers in the clinic, Centro de Salud 'Beatriz Kant', we have noticed that parts of the building are in very poor physical condition. This is why we have been motivated to raise money to contribute to a renovation project at the health clinic.
Background information about the Centro de Salud 'Beatriz Kant': Centro de Salud 'Beatriz Kant' is the healthcare clinic located next to the supermarket 'Romero'. The facility provides care for individuals who do not have insurance. Among other services, they also provide milk powder for pregnant women and mothers to ensure that their children receive adequate nutrition.
What needs to be done? Areas of the clinic that need renovation include the ceilings, floors, doors, and windows. We have also noticed that areas of the clinic are unsanitary, and garbage containment needs to be improved.
This is why we are hosting a silent auction which will take place TOMORROW, Thursday the 26th, at Restaurant Barú. Bids open at 5pm, and close 7pm.

3) What is a Silent Auction
A Silent auction is a variant of an English auction where bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the end of the auction (7 o'clock in our case), the highest listed bidder will win the item. The auction is "silent" because there will be no auctioneer selling individual items, but rather, the bidders will write their bids on a bidding sheet left on a table next to the item. Bid sheets will have a fixed starting amount and predetermined bid increments. The highest bidder pays the price he or she submitted.
