This Week:

May 1: The return of Ryan Grassley, Half Throttle. A  ride from Las Olas to the top of Volcan Baru about 70 minutes of video not to be missed. Ryan's last presentation was a full house I expect this one to fill also. We will have a better sound system this time.

May 15:  The Hybrid Operating Room. Learn about new minimally invasive procedures are reducing the need for major open surgery . Aortic valve replacement, abdominal and thoracic arotic aneurysm repair can now be done throughout minimally invasive technics.

The hybrid OR provides high quality imaging directly in the operating room making it possible to perform these cases safely and efficiently. You will learn about how surgeons and colleagues can perform minimally invasive, image-guided and catheter-based procedures in an operative setting.

Bruce Landau, who handles daily operations for two hybrid operating rooms for Penn CardioVascular Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia  USA will be doing the presentation.

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete
Buenos Vecinos de Boquete is a small group of volunteers who deliver food supplies to the handicapped and elderly on a monthly basis. You can make donations at the Tuesday meeting. For more information, see Irene at the meeting.

Visit at www.bid4boquete.com This organization is Boquete's equivilent of the United Way. One donation for many causes. Bid4Boquete can use volunteers as much as money.

Used Book Sales
Well over 350 used books DVDs and CDs for sale and U.S. stamps
for your mail. All proceeds from the book sales are equally divided between Handicap Foundation of Boquete, Buenos Vecinos and Carolina Alvarez Concepcion who is blind. Now also selling Milagros Pinzon's book about Boquete for $5.00 and Stanley Heckadon-Noreno's book "Naturalists on the Isthmus of Panama" for $15.00. Donations of books, Cds, DVDs, magazines and jigsaw puzzles will be gratefully received.

Amigos de los Animales, the group that sterilizes, provides feeding stations and supports the rescue and adoption of dogs and cats is always looking for dog and cat food and monetary donations for medicines as well as clinics.  See Carole, Cat, or Heather at the "animales" booth near the auditorium door for your donations.  Do a good deed and foster or adopt a rescued animal.  Check our web site for more information.  www.fadab.org   Click on the Adopt Me button to see the wonderful animals available.
