American ex-pats needed for research project

Reply To: Dana Varinsky <danavarinsky@gmail.com>

Hello:
Are you an American expat living in the Boquete area? Would you be willing to be interviewed about your decision to move to Panama by a graduate student doing summer research? My name is Dana Varinsky and I am studying journalism and international relations at NYU. I am writing my masters thesis about Americans who have moved to Panama, the social and economic factors that motivated them to do so, and the larger context that this trend fits into in the US and Panama. The final product will be a long-form magazine style piece, with the possibility of an accompanying radio story that I will be working on for the next year or so. I will be in Panama for six weeks starting June 13th and am looking to talk to as many people as possible about their experiences moving to Panama so that I can get the fullest sense of what expat life is like in Panama and why people have chosen to live there specifically. I would also love to talk to Panamanians who have been impacted by this influx of Americans as well. If you are interested in contributing your story, please email me (danavarinsky@gmail.com) to figure out a time when we can meet up briefly this summer. Any perspective you can give is appreciated!

Dana
