CranioSacral Therapy (CST) practitioners release restrictions in the Craniosacral system to assist the body's natural healing processes and its ability to bolster resistance to disease, pain and dysfunction. A session of CST is performed to clients fully clothed on a massage table. A session is 60- 75 minutes long. Through the month of Oct, Susan is offering Boquete residents a free CST session. After that, though October, sessions will be $30 each

Susan Clare, CST Practitioner, was a Florida.state Licensed. Massage Therapist for 30 years, before moving to Central America in 2011. She also has a MA Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Susan walks her talk and embodies her passions for natural, alternative and preventative healthcare modalities. She works
by appointment at the Haven. To schedule an appointment, or for more information, email Ms. Clare at suzeclare@gmail.com

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.

CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the Craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system [CNS]..At the very least, CST is very relaxing, as the CNS releases accumulated tension deeply relaxing the total self.

" CST works best with people who either take, or are moving toward taking, better care of themselves through exercise, nutrition, and self-reflection. It leads one within to one's source of strength, to stop seeking answers from the outside, and to assume greater responsibility for what he or she can naturally do to create greater ease and well-being from the inside. CST supports personal growth and responsibility. It can also undo the tension created through past injuries, traumas and surgeries, to bring the recipient more fully into the present- to the place- where he or she, can either begin or continue building, better health."   - Susan Clare

By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:

  • Migraine Headaches
  • Chronic Neck and Back Pain
  • Motor-Coordination Impairments
  • Colic
  • Autism
  • Central Nervous System Disorders
  • Orthopedic Problems
  • Concussions and Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia
  • Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Scoliosis
  • Infantile Disorders
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Emotional Difficulties
  • Stress and Tension-Related Problems
  • Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
  • Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
  • Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Post-Surgical Dysfunction
