[News Boquete] New exhibition at Boquete Library: Passions of Art

Exhibition Passions of Art at Boquete Library

You are cordially invited to an afternoon of art, tapas and wine at the opening reception of "Passions of Art: from the real to the abstract" exhibition and sale at the Boquete Library on March 8, from 4-6 pm. You will not want to miss this event. The exhibition features the art of Nancy Gallawa and Tatiana Arefina-Armitage.  Their work promises to charm and inspire you with its use of color and diversity of approach.  On exhibit will be: real life images of orchids, butterflies, birds and other creatures; fiber art, paper collage, computer abstracts, flowing acrylic abstract paintings, small soft sculpture silk and cotton baskets, necklaces of polymer clay and fused glass.  The baskets and necklaces will only be available at the opening.  The exhibition will be open through April 27th.  

Opening Date: Friday, March 8th

Time: 4-6 p.m.

Free

This exhibit will be available at the regular working hours of the Library until April 27th.

[News Boquete] THIS DOG NEEDS FURTHER VET CARE -- Help us find him

THIS DOG NEEDS FURTHER VET CARE

This dog was hit by a pickup truck late Saturday afternoon in Alto Boquete across from the Colegio and near the road to Wilson Bridge.   We picked him up and got him treated by a local vet.

On Sunday, he got out of our fenced yard.  We need to find him because he needs further vet care and medicines to help heal his broken leg. 

He has a splint and black bandage wrapped around his fractured left front leg.

REWARD for helping us find him or returning him for needed additional care.

[News Boquete] Bogotá tour May 9th to 15th with Oscar on the streets

Our Cali Tour successfully booked!
Bogotá, the main capital of Colombia and the original city where my parents are from is our next destination!
For those who are seeking history we will visit amazing spots like the Gold Museum, which holds the biggest pre-colombian collection of gold in the world.

Our trip starts Thursday May 9th flying into Bogotá and for those who might want to celebrate mother's day, Colombia celebrates on the same date as many other countries, Sunday May 12th.

We will be staying at great location in Bogotá, the biggest city and capital of Colombia.
The trip will include 2 nights in the colonial and historic town of Villa de Leiva. On the way we will be visiting the famous church of Zipaquirá, which was built inside of a salt mine.
We will visit the Guatavita lake, one of the most famous spots where a big part of the Legend of El Dorado was founded.
Great areas to go for dinner, shopping and also areas to walk freely and safely!
Of course, you will have my assistance 24/7 the whole time :)
City tour to the historic area of Candelaria, visit to the hill of Monserrate to get an amazing view of the whole city.
Bogotá is 2,600 meters above sea level so it will be chilly at night or during the day if the sun is not out.
Price per person is $950.00 dollars in double occupancy and $1,200 for a solo room.

Tuesday, February 26 – The history of aviation in Panama. Ibu Alvarado, born and raised in Bocas del Toro, has a diverse background as a banana farm administrator, Panama Canal Hydrologist, and as an aviator. In his talk, Ibu will address the history of Panama's aviation: its roots, its development, and its future. Ibu has been involved in aviation since an early age and is still active in the field. His flying experience spans from local, regional to international operations throughout Central and South America. He has recently published a book about his aviation experiences.  Moderator: Paul Myers

Tuesday, March 5 – Bonnie Williams and Hank Landis, our government representatives for this area,  will review such things as immigration requirements and the "new" law, proof of life filing, responsibilities and limitations of the wardens (now called American Citizen Liaisons), how to address federal benefit problems, etc.   Moderator:   Joanie Feuerstein
