[News Boquete] Mulino Talks Migration and the Darién Gap

REPRINTED FROM NEWSROOM PANAMA

Mulino Talks Migration and the Darién Gap

Card image

The president-elect, José Raúl Mulino, insisted this Friday, June 28, during a tour of the Darién that Panama cannot continue to bear the immigration problem, which has worsened in recent years.  "We will not be the ones paying for the crisis of neighboring countries," he said.  Mulino said he has witnessed several crises in Darien, but migration has gone beyond the limits, with children and mothers suffering from disorders or trauma.  "No one can ask Panama to tolerate this," Mulino criticized during a tour he made on Friday at the temporary migrant reception center in Lajas Blanca, located in the province of Darién.  His minister of Environment (Miambiente), Migration and Public Security were also present.

After learning about the reality that the Darién is experiencing with migrants, Mulino insisted Panama will be loud and clear with the United Nations (UN), in which they will present a complaint about the damage that the migration crisis has caused to the country, economically, socially, health, pollution, agriculture, among other topics.  He warned that with this process Panama will be a whistleblower to the world about this situation treated in silence.  "I will not allow Panama to continue being the only one dealing with a crisis that is taking place in both countries.  I have asked the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security to raise a red flag so that I, as president, can present it to the UN," said the president.

He also assured that once he comes to power he will use the seat that Panama obtained with the UN Security Council to address the immigration issue.  He announced that he is already working with the United States on a draft agreement for both countries to pursue repatriation processes for migrants arriving from Darién.  "The agreement with the United States implies that both countries repatriate migrants.  I know that this has an important impact for them because this memorandum has been on the table for a long time," Mulino confessed.

Between one and two thousand migrants arrive daily at the temporary migrant reception center in Lajas Blanca.  Ecuador, Venezuela, China are just some of the countries with the greatest presence.  So far, according to the president-elect, Panama allocates $200 million in spending on care for migrants.

[News Boquete] Mounir -- Naga_heal.balance.grow

I often get asked: 'Why did you move to Panama?'

Well...migrating from Belgium to Panama was not just a youthful dream, but a profound life change for me. After dedicating 15 years to a successful corporate career in project management, people management, process improvement, and business development, I decided to embark on a new journey that would align more with my passions and values. In Panama, I transitioned into the role of a well-being coach, meaning: Qi-Gong teacher, Reiki healer, Nutritionist and Phytotherapist (herbal medicine).

This change did not come suddenly but was simply waiting for the right moment. My passion for martial arts started after watching Bruce Lee's movie, 'Enter the Dragon', making me join an Atemi Jitsu club. But it was more than just the action that attracted me, I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding Eastern societies, the different ways of thinking, and the rich history. A few years after graduating from university, I encountered Japanese Kaligrafy, Chinese medicine and Qigong, around 2010, marking the first step in my journey.

I decided to pursue the healing and balancing part of Chinese medicine (Qigong), and Japanese nutrition (Okinawa lifestyle) & healing practices (Reiki, meditation & breathwork). Being a 'foodie', I later added European nutritionist studies, naturopathy and Phytotherapy (herbal medicine). The last study I finished was Bio-relaxation, which helps balance the human stress/relaxation equilibrium.

Alongside my work as a well-being coach, I have also pursued my passion for writing. As a freelance writer, I contribute to several renowned publications, including Perfect Daily Grind, MTpak, and Standart magazine. And of course, I am very proud of our speciality coffee bar; 'Mounelli'.

Migrating has been and still is a big challenge on many different levels. And I admit that I sometimes find myself missing my Volvo and the luxurious lifestyle that accompanied my corporate job. But the feeling that overtakes me, when a person I am treating re-discovers their inner joy/Self or starts healing, is a feeling I still cannot describe or value. It is a feeling no car or luxury could ever give me. The fact that I am now living a life that truly resonates with my authentic self, has made me richer than ever before.

Why work with me?

·      I offer you healing- or balancing services that are tailor-made to your needs and will learn (and document) exercises for you to continue your path after our journey ends

·      I provide education and guidance within a safe and confidential setting, enabling you to heal, balance and grow.

·      My services are available 'in-person' and online, or a combination of both

·      I always start with a take-in conversation, where we determine what you need and see if my services match your needs.  Finally, you decide whether we depart or not.

·      I combine knowledge, experience and intuition to guide you along your path

Come and meet me!

·      On Friday at 11 am for a meditation & breathwork class in the spa next to Mounelli/Isla Verde

·      On Sunday at 11 am for a Qigong class in the studio the Haven

·      From Wednesday until Sunday at our specialty coffee bar; Mounelli

Hope to heal you soon!

[News Boquete] Inclusion Boquete has Moved

Hi Everyone,

Inclusion Boquete, a community fostering diverse abilities, has been a staple at Tapout Tuesday Market behind the bar for over a year.
We've recently relocated to the theater side of Tapout Tuesday Market, now neighboring Freeze and Feast.
We have been a non profit organization registered with the Panamanian government in action for about 2 years now, we do Job training and Job placement for Down syndrome and autistic folks. We do field trips and community outings as well with our amazing crew! If you know of someone who might be a good fit for our program, please let us know!
Freeze and Feast was created to help with the job placement as that particular piece has been very difficult.

Eager to connect, we invite you to discover what we're all about. Drop by for a chat or send us a private message
If you're keen to contribute to our special program, let's explore possibilities together!
