Like any small town, rumors happen often resulting in confusion. We are rolling out this first edition of the Poop Scoop newsletter so that we can update this wonderful community on the current status of DogCamp.

WHAT IS DOGCAMP?

DogCamp is a charitable organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, socialize and find permanent, loving homes for dogs in and around Boquete, Panama. They are a foster/adoption, no-kill shelter that is free of cages and chains. The founders and operators, Magaly and Javier started rescuing animals years ago and have grown DogCamp into a recognized and respected rescue and foster shelter. Their work in rescuing animals helps prevent the spread of disease and improves the lives of the dogs they help.

 

DOGCAMP HAS A NEW LOCATION

Forced to leave their current location, DogCamp and friends spent months seeking a new and appropriate location. They found a lovely 8 acre property. This property is ideal for DogCamp-away from residential areas, safe and spacious.

BOQUETE'S TUESDAY MARKET EXPANSION

DogCamp will be adding a second booth to Boquete's Tuesday Markets as it opens its expansion at the Arco Iris location in the Fairgrounds, directly across from the original market location.

They will maintain their existing outdoor location at TapOut, where donations are gladly accepted and on occasion a dog/cat maybe 'on location' for foster/adoption consideration.

The new booth at Arco Iris will showcase a RETAIL Boutique where new and softly used quality and useful items will be on sale.

Information on DogCamp services and volunteer opportunities will also be shared. 100% of the earnings will go to assist with the ongoing expenses of the shelter.

NEW SPONSOR PROGRAM

DogCamp has 5 dogs that are dogs adopted by Javier and Magaly, 20 dogs that are old dogs, bitters, shy dogs and 2 more dogs that we think people could adopt (Teddy and Cindy).

So, with this program we are looking for monthly donations to keep the dogs with dog food, vaccines, deworm medicine, vitamins, cover the cost of keep a clean bed a clean area for them, they will be permanent dogs, most of them are 5 years old in advance. So we would love that every sponsor help with 30 dollars per month, DogCamp will send pictures and a descripcion every month of every dog with all the information of your sponsor dog. We will post the pictures on facebook and news Boquete from all the dogs that are in this program.

Thanks to all of you who have supported DogCamp during this difficult time. The transition to a new location on top of the pandemic has hit all of us very hard. Without the Tuesday Market and the daycare/boarding income, these past seven months have put tremendous strain on DogCamp. [News Boquete] Lots of new options this week

Hello Everyone,

 

 

This week we have added lots of great options to our menu.  We've got spinach and artichoke dip, spicy Thai panang curry, and as a special request we've made a delicious 3 mushroom sauce cheese ravioli.  Last week Cecelia's thin crust pepperoni pizzas sold completely out (with a waiting list) so we've decided to make a few more and to top it all off we've made a fresh batch of Spaghetti Bake.  It has been a very busy week in the kitchen.  In addition to all of these items we've also got delicious Mexican food, beef stroganoff, soul satisfying soups like cream of chicken, broccoli cheddar, corned beef and cabbage soup, tomato basil soup, and black bean soup.

 

We are working on bringing back some of our delicious staples in the upcoming weeks like Bacon Chicken Ranch Casserole, Italian Panini's, Chicken Pot Pies, Chicken Fried Steak Dinners, and lots more..

Reliable but not referenceable information suggests that ATM withdrawals will be limited to $250.00 per transaction, with a minimum fee of $5.25 per transaction, beginning September 1st. The above screen capture at various ATM machines in the Panama City area has started displaying on ATM machines over the past couple of days. Reports say that these messages are being displayed at different bank ATMs (specifically including Banco General, Global and BAC), not just one bank, but we cannot confirm for all banks. Note that the $250.00 withdrawal limit applies only to ATM cards issued outside of Panama. For more details, please visit the following link on the Chiriqui.Life (CL) website. Event: Planned Commercial Humanitarian Flights  

  

The Embassy has identified two upcoming humanitarian flights with seats available.  Any traveler with the appropriate passport/visa to permit entry into the United States is eligible to purchase a ticket.  Travelers should carefully plan their onward travel as hotel options may be limited.  Once in the United States, all domestic travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of the traveler.  

  

The upcoming humanitarian flights are: 

  

• August 29 United Airlines flight UA2417 to Houston, TX, departing Panama City's Tocumen International Airport at 10:25 a.m. 

• September 4 United Airlines flight UA2417 to Houston, TX, departing Panama City's Tocumen International Airport at 10:25 a.m. 

 

Copa Airlines also confirmed that they will offer seats on multiple flights that transit through Panama as part of Panama's new "Humanitarian Hub".  Please check directly with Copa for these flight itineraries and availability.  

 

For additional information about these flights and to make reservations, visit the respective websites of the airlines, Copa or United. Flights that appear to be sold out may have openings due to cancellations. Continue checking directly with the airlines for any openings. 

 

The Embassy shares information on all confirmed humanitarian flights, but flight reservations and operations are controlled by the airlines themselves.  The Embassy is not involved in flight scheduling.  Due to the frequently-changing travel environment as a result of COVID-19, planned flights may be changed or cancelled.  In such cases, passengers should follow-up directly with the airline to rebook. 

     

The Embassy encourages interested U.S. citizens and legal residents to purchase early and forward your purchase confirmation email to the Embassy immediately at PanamaCityUSCitizen@state.gov so that we can assist you with the issuance of salvoconducto passes.  You may also email this address if you are unable to make the currently scheduled flights but would like to be informed about the next humanitarian flight.  Please be aware that future flights are not guaranteed, and those who choose not to depart on these flights should prepare to remain in Panama indefinitely.
