[News Boquete] SUMMARY OF THE PANAMANIAN GOVERNMENT REOPENING PLAN


SUMMARY OF THE PANAMANIAN GOVERNMENT REOPENING PLAN (ACCORDING TO THE NEWSPAPER LA PRENSA, RELEASED OF AUGUST 25, 2020): 

 

September 7: the construction industry and related activities (engineers, architects, project managers, contractors, moving and carrying services), and the Panama Pacific Special Economic Area, Colon Free Zone and free zones, private marinas, and sport fishing activities, tailor shops and dressmakers, shoe stores and car washes. 

 

September 14: the mobility restriction by gender is lifted, and the safe-passes will no longer be needed, except for companies that require mobility of their workers during curfew hours.  

On this date, the curfew hours will be from 11:00 p.m. at 5:00 a.m. from Monday to Saturday, and total quarantine on Sunday. 

On September 21: the sports federative activities will be reopened, but without public.  

 

On September 28th: reactivating activities with the presence of the public of retail trade, restaurants (and smaller restaurants called fondas), professional services (that have not open yet), administrative and general services,  

-National flights will reopen 

- By province: family activities on the beach, rivers and Natural parks by province, and the Presidente Remon's Racetrack (but without public). 

 

October 12: The curfew is lifted, including on Sundays.  

Also on this date: Opening of international aviation, hotels, motels, rural hostels, lodging places, and complementary services, tourist activities, non-essential transportation (recreational and tourism), creative and cultural industries, music, and art academies, libraries, swimming pools and the National Charity Lottery. 

 

Pending to be determined (no date to open yet): schools, colleges, universities and third-level institutions, nursery schools, kindergartens, cinemas, theaters, museums, galleries and closed tourist sites, gyms, children's entertainment halls, casinos, bars, canteens, gardens, disco and similar, concerts, fairs, carnivals, parades and other activities. 

 

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, indicated that the entire plan is conditioned on the behavior of the indicators regarding the coronavirus: contagion index, Rt, percentage of positivity, availability of beds, etc.
