[News Boquete] Chicken Pot Pies are back!!!

When was the last time you enjoyed a delicious, freshly baked chicken pot pie?  This week we've made a few, just for you.

These pot pies are full of tender vegetables like peas, celery, and carrots.  Loads of tasty chicken breast and smothered with a southern gravy crafted especially for this Classic Freezer Meal.  To finish this dish off it's got a bottom and top layer of extra crispy/flakey puff pastry.  Talk about delicious!!!

We also have authentic Mexican tamales (carnitas and barbacoa), thin crust pizzas, breakfast sausages (mild and spicy), beef stroganoff, Italian Lasagna, Baked Ziti, Tibetan Lentil Soup (Vegan), Pumpkin bread, and lots more.

Be sure to register as a member to our new site to see this week's offerings.  Let me know if you have any questions.

[News Boquete] Crash Course Spanish with Renny ~ Classes start soon

Crash Course Spanish Classes with Renny start on a Monday

January 16th, 2023, thru February 22, two days a week (Mon. & Wed.)

 It is a six-week class.

This is a fun, easy class. If there is any practice or homework, those with busy schedules will love having the option of doing them by email or Whats Ap at their convenience.

_________________________

COST: $199

As many people know, Renny, a degreed professional, owned a language school in David under contract with the Panamanian Government giving classes for them, and also had one in Houston. She is now offering several levels of Spanish classes in Boquete, Beginner Basic Level, Intermediate and High Intermediate.

These are professional instructions with an easy, clear curriculum and
the correct sequencing of material.

Location of the class is in Boquete

All of the Spanish Classes are called Crash Course Spanish

**** The first Basic class meets Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. - 11:30

The Basic Classes will get you speaking fast!
It shows how the language is organized, and teaches the tricks of the language, the basics: pronunciation, some important cultural notes,
phrases, vocabulary, speaking; fluid short conversations, how to ask and answer questions. You will practice and share tips, create full sentences, and learn this trick: how to speak without conjugating verbs! Workbook is included.

The Crash Course Intermediate Class

**Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

You will USE your acquired Spanish language! You will speak in class, get tips for learning to listen and respond, you will have short exchanges, pronounce the difficult, role play, learn word order, expand your vocabulary, and engage in specialized classes to gain better listening skills. You will speak every day, learn a higher use of some verbs without conjugating, create interesting sentences, listen to songs, conduct interviews, and give short speeches. Learn by doing. Each student will translate for someone. It's time to do better at understanding what Spanish speakers are saying BECAUSE…
the class also engages in "Train your ear" as well as "Practicing Speaking", all of this as you learn more and more Spanish fast; you build the confidence you need to converse with others.

Workbook is included.

Pre-requisite for the **Intermediate Class :  you MUST be at the intermediate level of speech, no exceptions

**Intermediate Class To enter this class the following will describe your level of speech:

You respond to simple, direct questions or requests for information, can ask a few questions concerning needs and wants, and are able to express personal meaning by relying heavily on learned or re-combined phrases, repeating, or rephrasing what you hear around you. You know short and sometimes incomplete sentences in the present tense. At times you know you state things incorrectly but gain confidence because the Spanish speaker "got" what you were trying to say. You may be hesitant or inaccurate, whereby frequent misunderstandings arise.  When called upon to handle a variety of topics and perform serious functions you operate at about a 40% to 50% success range, and can sometimes respond in intelligible sentences, but cannot sustain full sentence exchanges. You know the meanings/translations (not the conjugations) of at least 75 verbs.

*** Advanced Class Special Arrangements can be made

to enter the ADVANCED CLASS or HIGH INTERMEDIATE from Feb 24th thru March 10th  ~ same price

[News Boquete] Fwd: Gardening? Get your goat berries!

Greetings to the Boquete Community from Milky Way Creamery!

Many of you already know us from the BCP Tuesday market where we have offered our goat dairy products for over 9 years.  For those of you whom we haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting, Milky Way is a farmstead goat dairy and creamery right here in Boquete. Although the goats are our main focus, we also have other animals, as well as some vegetables and ornamental plants.

Over the years, we've had fantastic results with our veggies and flowers by using a fertilizer that we've been producing ever since we started raising goats.  Right now we're offering it to the rest of the community.

Our organic fertilizer is made using a mixture of fully composted (black soil), partially composted, and raw goat, duck, chicken, and green manure. The result is a mixture that's teeming with beneficial microorganisms that can support the growth of your plants for 6+ months. You can grow directly on it, or you can use it as the perfect soil amendment for your raised bed and potting mixes.

The 50 lb. bag is $12.

Piero will be in the Plaza San Francisco Plaza in Alto Boquete on Saturday, December 31st between 10:00-10:45 A.M., ready to load up your vehicle.  He will be parked across the street on the south side of the plaza.  You will see our red Toyota SUV as you turn off the main road.

If you are interested in purchasing a bag or have any questions, please let us know via email, or call Piero at 6481-6397. In other occasions we have sold out, so please do reserve or call us before you head out - we'd hate for you to waste a trip!

Finally, if you are interested in purchasing a carload of bags (12 or more), we offer complimentary delivery within the Boquete area.

Testimonials are below.

Best wishes to you all,

Piero and Adriane

"We have known Piero for several years and are quite impressed with his operation.  Personally we love his goat milk and cheeses. We also utilize his composted manure to help grow our worms for their organic worm casing fertilizer.  We feel he produces an excellent product and would encourage others to try it."

Ron Miller

         Finca Santa Marta

I am an avid gardener and have used Piero's goat berries for the last 2 years. I usually spread them in early rainy season. The growth, vibrancy, health and flower production is fantastic. Far superior to anything I have used on the gardens in the 14 years I have lived here.

Victoria Lee Appenzeller

The Hacienda Bed and Breakfast

"Piero's goat manure is a great addition to my organic garden. I've never had such great veggies in my life. Very rich in nutrients! I am very pleased and would recommend it to anyone who wants a super healthy garden."

Eric Christensen

"Piero's goat manure really makes a strong difference with my organic veggies, especially the carrots, cucumbers & tomatoes…It's also extremely convenient & affordable for the results it produces."

Harreson R Mayers

[News Boquete] Buenos Vecinos de Boquete Newsletter December 2022

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete Newsletter December 2022
Buenos Vecinos de Boquete

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete Newsletter December 2022

2002-A Growth Year for BVB

- The number of BVB volunteers has almost doubled to more than 35 individuals.

- The number of of families/clients to whom we are now delivering food has grown 58%.

- 25 large families with four children or more are receiving double portions of food every month.

- 70% of families surveyed are participating in the new Food Start Program to grow some of their own food.

- 6 BVB volunteers are kicking off the new Volunteer Sharing Program assisting FPI (The Handicap Foundation) on Social Saturdays, and in the future, additional volunteers will be helping their wheelchair-bound clients transport the monthly BVB food bags to their homes.

- 143 toys found new homes with BVB kids this Christmas with the start-up of the new Toys for Kids Program. BVB teamed up with ACCB (Association of Community and Charity of Boquete) during its 12th year of conducting this program and their annual Christmas Fundraiser/Toy Drive Dinner Buffet to bring toys, clothing and food to hundreds of kids in the Comarca.

Our Thanks to our Sponsors and Donors

When people support BVB they are assured that because we have no overhead, every dollar is bound for its intended destination, to feed those in our community who are single moms with kids, elderly without family and financial support, and families who are caring for a handicapped family member. BVB depends solely on those donations, including our in-kind donations, and we want to say thank you to them all.

Thank you to our primary Corporate Sponsor Agro Nosotros who provides funding for us every quarter. They have been one of the cornerstones supporting our program and we could not serve our growing client roster without them. Their coffee and chocolate shop, The Perfect Pair in downtown Boquete, also gives us chocolate candy bars for all of our BVB families every month. There are smiles all around when the BVB delivery volunteers arrive at the door.

Chiriqui Media Factory produces our newsletter every month and keeps track of all the data points around the newsletter and our social media. They created and manage our website www.buenosvecinosdeboquete.com which provides us an attractive and informative face to the world. They also designed a new logo for us this year and we love our updated look. Gijs Hoogerkamp and Diogenes "Ivan" Gonzalez are the ever-present benefactors who not only drive our media program, but also give us feedback and advice to make it better. Their in-kind contributions have helped us reach far beyond our borders to make new friends and find supporters here and abroad.

Our new Food Start program is made possible by Thomas Budziszewski in his Palmira greenhouse, where all the seedlings are planted and tended by Tito, his able assistant, until they are ready to be handed off to our eager new gardeners. John Rhoades, our BVB Food Starter coordinator, introduced this program to Thomas and Tito and they took it on with great enthusiasm. John is the generator for Food Start and has orchestrated every step in this project. The amended soil, and other additives for growth are donated, as are the seedlings and food slips by anonymous donors to our program. These are in-kind donations that are literally blooming.

Throughout the years the bedrock for Buenos Vecinos de Boquete has been the generous kindness and concern of our committed Coconut Foundation Members. Their ever-increasing numbers and faithfulness are a testament to the personal commitment they've made to the well-being of our BVB families. We are sincerely grateful to all of them.

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete exists to help people like this, who are unable to meet their basic food needs. We have provided emergency food support on many occasions and have been successful in helping families through hard times. We will help them with food support until the working age adults in the family can find enough income to become self-sustaining.
