[News Boquete] Found black lab

Reply to:  richarddetrich@yahoo.com
He showed up the other morning and won't leave!  He's a healthy, beautiful black lab with a chain.  I'm tempted to keep him just so he can show my dogs how a trained dog is supposed to act!  He follows me all over.  Responds to Spanish commands.  Last night he slept by my wife and this morning woke her up with her slipper in his mouth!  Our dogs don't deliver that kind of 5 Star service!  Obviously someone is looking for this beautiful dog, so if you know anyone in the Alto Boquete/Palmira area who is looking for their dog, he is comfortably ensconced in Nikki & Richard's Dog B&B!  The last thing we need is another animal!

[News Boquete] Fwd: Bid 4 Boquete Final Report and Clearance Sale

Another record has been broken by Bid 4 Boquete, the leading fundraising effort in the Boquete/Potrerillos area. Events over the weekend of February 9-10, combined with prior sales of plants and high end clothing, will exceed $75,000 once outstanding money is collected and outstanding bills paid, topping last year's $70,000 plus take.

Weekend activities included an art and jewelry sale on Saturday afternoon, a wine tasting and live auction Saturday night, and a full afternoon of sales and activities on Sunday. Well over a thousand people came to the Boquete fairgrounds to participate in the silent auction of hundreds of goods and services, to shop the patio sales of clothing and housewares, and to buy food and drink and baked goods.

Activities for the area's children included games for prizes, face painting, and professional photographs. A special treat was the attendance of children from Casa Hogar Trisker, whose participation was underwritten by the dozens of residents who purchased ticket vouchers on their behalf.

Congratulations to the more than 200 volunteers who worked steadily for months to ensure that this year's event was a success. Thanks are due to the nearly 500 businesses, professionals, and individuals who donated goods and services to be sold. Bid 4 Boquete encourages Panama residents to patronize these businesses and to thank them personally for their participation. Special thanks go to the 23     committee chairs, the Foundation Council, and the event organizers, Penny Barrett, Bonnie Williams, and Anayansi Menendez.

Major beneficiaries of this year's event will include:
ñ  Amigos de Animales de Boquete, spay and neuter program/animal welfare
ñ  Fundacion Pro-Integracion, services for the handicapped
ñ  Buenos Vecinos de Boquete, food for the needy and shut-in
ñ  Club Rotario de Boquete, supporting the area schools and students

An additional half dozen or so charitable or civic organizations will receive smaller amounts, to be determined by the Foundation Council within the upcoming weeks.

For the third year in a row, Banco General was the overall event sponsor. Several other local businesses stepped up to provide major financial support. These businesses include Casa Solution Real Estate, Habla Ya language school, and Chiriqui Storage ministorage and consignments.

Bid 4 Boquete requires months of planning and work from a core group of very dedicated volunteers. This dedication has resulted in it being the largest charitable fund raising organization in Chiriqui Province.

There are still unsold items and services from the silent auction that will be offered at discounted prices, including legal services, art, gym memberships, health and beauty goods and services, dental services, hotel and resort stays, classes, and architectural design services. You can view these in the Clearance Sale album . These items and services are for sale at much less than the declared value to the first person to purchase. There are some real deals here, for things you want or need, so check them out! Payment can be made via Paypal or in our Banco General account and certificates can be sent by email. Real things can be shipped via Fletes Chavales.

Attention Business Owners: Did your business reap the benefit of months of free online promotion because you made a donation of goods or services to this year's event? If not, be thinking about what you can donate for next year. Participate, benefit through free advertising, and know you are helping to make our community become a better place to live.
