Tuesday, Dec. 8 – Thomas McCormack speaks on Panamanian myths, folklore, legends, and wives' tales. Tom is a local "hero" to many. He came to Panama the first time in 1994 to teach beekeeping and honey production. He retired in 2000 and now lives in David (in the culture) 6 months of every year, He has almost single-handedly solicited and delivered 16 40ft.containers of medical supplies for this area.Tom works every day in his prosthetic shop where his team to date has fitted 336 new legs, 43 new hands and several complete arms. Tuesday, Dec. 29 – Darrell Eash presents Camels & Chameleons (Learning to Thrive in a New Culture). Understanding and appreciating the differences between Latinos and Gringos. How to adapt to and succeed in a culture and language different from your own.
Tuesday, Jan 5 – LAST WILLS AND LIVING WILLS. Hospice hosts Lourdes Miranda and Juan Contreras from the Boquete law offices of Miranda and Contreras speaking on Last Wills and Living Wills.
Tuesday, Jan. 12 – Edna Landau, owner and tour guide for Sitio Bariles will talk about the history and discoveries made at her archeological site. Barriles (known also as Sitio Barriles or by the designation BU-24), is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Panama. It is located in the highlands of the Chiriquí Provinceof Western Panama at 1200 meters above sea level. It is several kilometers west of the modern town of Volcán.
Tuesday, Jan. 19 – Lloyd Cripe the founder and operator of www.Boqueteweather.com will give a talk entitled: Boquete Weather: Things are changing. He will review the history of the weather station and the development of the website. Data will be presented demonstrating the changes in weather over the course of 8 years. The most likely causes will be presented as well as the challenges of the future. This is the third presentation he has given over the course of 10 years of living here. Come and see what he has learned.
