Tuesday, May 31 Mikkel Moller on Entrepreneurship in Panama. Is there an urge to start a business in Panama - ready to do more than just retire (reading, watching TV or playing games)? Come learn about skills and the background needed  to be an Entrepreneur. Maybe you are the next creative genius waiting in the wings. Mikkel Moller started his career as a Naval Officer. His expertise covers the gambit of critical business necessities needed in small business, (marketing, sales, social media, CRM, Email marketing & Internet research). Powerful consulting opportunities at the university level, further honed his leadership skills, with business incubator management and the integral oversight responsibilities with the creation of startups, expanding small company growth & design, product manufacturing and of course terminating poor performing organizations.  This provided him with highest level of critical business skills. Always a builder, he presently has three eCommerce businesses based in Panama. While most entrepreneurial ventures start out as a small business, not all small businesses are entrepreneurial. In recent years, entrepreneurship has been  a major driver of economic growth in many countries, including Panama.

Tuesday, June 7"The Adventure of Bringing Heliconias into Cultivation" by Carla Black Carla has lived in western Panama for over 20 years. Her interest in plants and gardening developed from her lifelong love of the outdoors. Her specialty is the native heliconias of Panama and Costa Rica. With over 200 heliconia species and varieties in her garden Carla has the largest collection of Heliconia species in the world. In her collection there are several undescribed species she has collected. She opens her three hectare garden to the public once a year, when she offers heliconia plants for sale. Currently she serves as president of the Heliconia Society International. We'll take a vigorous journey through remarkable habitats in the neotropics, and rest and relax in Carla's garden, too.

Tuesday, June 14 – Tom & Yella Werder will talk about relationships.

Tuesday, June 21 – Pet Care in the Best of Times and the Worst of Times. A panel of local experts will talk about routine care of your pets and what to do in case of an emergency. They will offer up their advice based on years of working with domestic animals in Panama. The panel will consist of Alicia McGuigan and Dottie Thompson co-presidents of Amigos de Animales, Beth Abraham. co-chairman of ARF (Adopt, Rescue, Foster), Kris Berg, owner of Howling Success K9 Services, and Dottie Atwater, founder of Spay Panama-Chiriqui,  the spay/neuter clinic in Volcan.

Tuesday, June 28 – Steven Walker local plant and landscaping expert will talk to us about what grows where in Chiriqui, where to get healthy plants,  how to take care of your plants, and pest control on your property.

Tuesday, August 2 Newcomers meeting and introduction of the new US wardens.

Tuesday, August 16Retirement and relocating are fun, right? And exciting, correct?  And maybe a bit intimidating and challenging.  Come join Sharon Brooks in a fun and playful morning of refreshing our likability skills.  We will refresh our ability to fully listen, read body language and communicate clearly without boring our listener to death. Sharon Brooks, BR (Before Retirement) was a trainer and keynote speaker leading a plethora of communications workshops in California, Nevada and Hawaii. If you want to make the most out of Newcomer Events and make new friends effectively come join in, offer your ideas and volunteer for some stage time if you like as we show examples of what to do and not to do - all in good fun.
