[News Boquete] Weekly Guided Meditation

Did you know there is GUIDED MEDITATION twice a week at The Studio at The Haven Wellness Resort and Spa? :-)

MONDAY 10:45 AM and FRIDAY 12:15 PM

Price: $5.00 (45 min)

Come experience the style of Guided Meditation called "Yoga Nidra"... which may be considered as 'yoga for the brain'...

While resting comfortably on your back, you are guided on a specific journey (which includes rotation of consciousness around the body, connection with breath, and visualization) that produces profound and proven results. The meditations are crafted to stimulate different areas of the brain while inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

The term Yoga Nidra is derived from two Sanskrit words: 'yoga' meaning union or one-pointed awareness, and 'nidra' which means sleep. During the practice of Yoga Nidra, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. In this threshold state between sleep and wake-fulness, contact with the subconscious and unconscious dimensions occurs spontaneously.

If the consciousness is able to be separated from external awareness and from sleep, it becomes very powerful and can be applied in many ways, for example, to develop the memory, increase knowledge and creativity, or transform one's nature. Yoga Nidra can be used for directing the mind to accomplish anything!

R - E - L - A - X

Yoga Nidra is a powerful form of guided meditation in which one learns to relax consciously. People may feel that they are relaxing when they collapse in an easy chair with their favorite drink, watch Netflix, and/or scroll through their cell phone. Yet this will never suffice as a scientific definition of relaxation. These are only sensory diversions. True relaxation is actually an experience far beyond all this. For absolute relaxation you must remain aware. This is Yoga Nidra, the state of dynamic sleep.

Through the practice of yoga nidra, we are not only relaxing, but restructuring and reforming from the inside- out. With every session we are burning old patterns, habits and tendencies. This process is not only much quicker than other systems which work on an external basis only, but the results are also more reliable and permanent.

During Yoga Nidra you will become familiar with the variety of techniques that are used, including the following:

CREATING A RESOLVE

This is a short, positive, powerful statement of one's personal choosing. It is found by going into the heart, and discovering the heart's desire. This is an integral part of every practice, and is repeated at both the beginning and the end of the session. It is said that the resolve that one makes during Yoga Nidra is bound to come true in one's life.

ROTATION OF CONSCIOUSNESS

This is the progressive movement of awareness through parts of the body. The neurosurgeon affects the body by stimulating the brain. The practitioner of Yoga Nidra begins at the other end of the nerve pathway, by heightening the awareness of the body in order to stimulate the brain.

This induces physical relaxation, and clears the nerve pathways to the brain, both those governing physical activity and those concerned with incoming information. It truly is a 'cleaning' of the brain from the inside-out!

BREATH AWARENESS

By practicing breath awareness, a state of sense withdrawal (pratyahara) and deep relaxation occur. Deep relaxation has been shown to be an altered state of perception. Once this state has been induced, the guided image visualization proceeds.

VISUALIZATION

Guided imagery in Yoga Nidra is a method of using a symbol (archetype) or image as a catalyst to provoke a reaction in the unconscious parts of the mind. The subconscious and unconscious material of the mind is awakened and released to become integrated into consciousness.

Please note: This class begins shortly after Gentle Yoga on Monday, and after Vinyasa Yoga on Friday. You are encouraged to make this an "add-on" to your practice... or simply make this a stand-alone experience!

My name is Joy Alexander, and I am the Head of The Studio. I am passionate about Yoga Nidra and have been leading this style of guided meditation for close to a decade. If you have any questions, I encourage you to reach out.

[News Boquete] Large original jungle scenes painted by people with disabilities in our community

These very large wall paintings were composed and painted by members of our handicapped community. There are 3 of them depicting Panama nature scenes. They measure 61" square. They will be presented at the art exhibition at Bambuda Castle Hostel this Friday, October 30, starting at 5pm. Tickets are $20 and are available at mieventos.com <http://mieventos.com> or at the door. A portion of the proceeds will go toward supporting children and individuals with the conditions addressed by the Handicap Foundation. Another percentage of the proceeds will go directly to the participating artists to support their work. It would be wonderful if some business purchased these paintings to hang on the walls of their restaurant, hotel, or office showing support for our handicapped community. We are asking $500 each or best offer. A sizable discount if you purchase all 3. ___________________________________________________________________ The above message was distributed by /News Boquete/, a free subscription-based community service. /News Boquete/'s _*ONLY*_ public email address is news.boquete@gmail.com.
