Sweets and Breakfast Treats
Donuts are on the Menu this week. If you had a chance to come by last week then you would have seen a true sweet dough treat. Joe’s Donuts were a hit. Freshly baked and glazed with chocolate and vanilla glaze they were not only delicious but also fun to look at. Cream filled, covered with almonds, sprinkles, there were many types. Come early if you want your donut fix!!
Bagels are back and will be baked fresh for the market. Cinnamon Raisin, Sesame Seed, the Everything, Onion, and Sundried Tomato.
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies will be at the table. A perfect combination. These delightful snack are chewy and delicious. Not only good but good for your as well!!
Banana Walnut Bread is now being called the miracle worker. Try it and you will see that this moist freshly baked work of art is more than your typical loaf sweet bread. This Banana Walnut bread uses cinnamon, clove, ginger, honey, bananas, and other wonderful ingredients. Not too much of each so that we can maintain the true nature of what this bread represents. Balance. Enjoy this loaf over coffee, with friends, ice cream, for breakfast. Give as a gift to your Panamanian neighbor or use as an item of appreciation for your bank, auto mechanic, cell phone company, local police officer, basically anyone who needs a little slice of heaven in their life.
Southern Pumpkin Pie is a staple in our household as the seasons begin to change. The chill in the air back home and the leaves falling remind me that the holidays are fast approaching and the time bundle up by the fireplace is near at hand. We start off by baking a great big pumpkin and creaming it with loads of butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. A touch of ginger later and a little bit of magic we are pulling out of the oven a Fall classic. All you need is a bit of whipped topping to complete this seasonal treat…
Fresh Baguettes are always available as well from our booth. Come by and take a peek at what our baker has been up to. Each week there are a few surprises.
Lunch and Dinner Prepared Meals
Chicken Pot Pie not only continues to be our number 1 menu item each week but it has grown in popularity as each week passes. We start off with 10 pounds of frozen butter and begin the process of making the pastry crust. A rich and flakey crust that flakes apart at each bite. Thinly rolled out to form the base we then add the heart and soul of this wonderful comfort food. Celery, onions, peas, carrots, and tender chicken breast. After baking for 30 minutes we flash freeze it. This dish comes in 2 sizes. Regular feeds 1 – 2 people and large feeds between 6 and 8 people. Add a salad and some pie to make a complete meal.
Chicken Cordon Bleu is another menu item that has continued to remain at the top of the list. What makes this menu item so popular is the fact that it remains crispy and juicy after the thawing and reheating process. Just as if you cooked it yourself. We use gourmet Swiss Cheese and true smoked ham to fill our chicken breasts. Breaded in a mix of Panko and seasoned bread crumbs this dish is hard to beat. Comes with 2 chicken portions and a side of sautéed onions, bell peppers, and roasted garlic and potatoes. We drizzle the Cordon Bleu with a smoked Gouda Mornay sauce. Delightful.
European Meatloaf is back again this week. A perfect combination of veal, ground beef, veggies, bread crumbs, and spices make this comfort food a real treat. Smothered in a brown gravy this dish remains moist and delicious. Will feed 1 – 2 people and comes with a side.
***NEW***Chicken Cannelloni. Stuffed cannelloni pasta with shredded chicken and homemade ricotta cheese is the basic frame work for this Italian staple. Tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese cover the pasta and after a quick bake you are enjoying a restaurant quality dinner in the comfort of your own home.
***NEW***Beef Cannelloni. This great stuffed pasta dish is not only filling but absolutely delicious. Using a beef and tomato start Joe stuffs the pasta. Next adding homemade Ricotta cheese he creates layers. Topping the entire dish off with a tomato sauce and mozzarella. This dish comes with 6 stuffed cannelloni. Feeds 2 – 3 people.
***NEW***Manhattan Clam Chowder. This tomato based clam chowder is made from chicken stock, tomatoes, vegetables, and clams. Breaking apart from the traditional cream based clam chowder this “red” chowder certainly holds its own. Thank you for those of you whom have requested this dish. We appreciate the suggestions and know that you will love it.
***NEW***Atlantic Pink Salmon Patties have always held a special place in my heart. A combination of everything wonderful all in 1 place. Salmon, vegetables, capers, breading, pan frying, and baking. The magic is in the seasonings and the quality of the fish. Each patty is roughly 3 inches in diameter. Drizzled with a lemon caper sauce and served with creamed roasted garlic potatoes and sautéed kale. This is a dinner for 2 people.
Stuffed Bell Peppers will be in Boquete on Tuesday. Sorry for the confusion last week but I assure you that this week we are on. Stuffed with a combination of fresh mushrooms, seasoned pork, seasoned, ground beef, and vegetables this simple yet complete dish is a treat to the palate. Sold in pairs you will receive 2 medium sized stuffed bell peppers with each order.
Thai Panang Chicken is also on the Menu this week. Rated as the most authentic Thai dish in Panama. This Panang Chicken is medium spiced so that you can add heat if you wish. Served with peanuts and fresh kaffir lime leaves. Garnish with sweet basil for an extra blast of flavor.
