| | | This is the last newsletter of the year and I think it's time to reflect on some highlights accomplished by BHH this year. We have moved into a new Hospice Home that will allow us to have all our equipment in one place. It has increased our visibility to the community in its location across from the library. In addition, we now have signage to let the community know where we are located. This new location not only allows us to keep all our equipment in one place, but can also serve as for small meetings, training sessions and possible central communication hub in the future. A major step forward in fundraising, has been the establishment of a non profit 501c3 designation in the United States. This will allow us to receive tax deductible donations from individuals and charitable organizations to hopefully improve our revenue stream. We will be moving our General Meetings to the library in January. While the Animales building has been convenient, there was no control over external noise which sometimes would drown out our speakers. The new location will be able to not only control external noise, but is also air conditioned for those warm days. It has been brought to the attention of the Board of Directors, that the name of our foundation in Panama is Boquete Hospice and Health Foundation instead of Boquete Health and Hospice Foundation. This reversion to the legal name needs to be reflected in all legal agreements. Therefore, over time you will see a gradual change in Newsletters and announcements - reverting to this previous title. Another change you will notice over the coming year, is that there may be changes in the graphics and format of our Newsletter and announcements. We have engaged the services of a graphic artist to help us in improving our face to the community, and increase the number of sites we post to, in both the Expat and Panamanian community. | | | | October 25th and 26th BHH was invited to have a table at the Book Fair at the Biblioteca de Boquete. A two day event featured speakers and free craft events for the kids. The volunteers were able to connect with many people to promote our upcoming events - CPR training, the Blood Drive and the Being Prepared final class of the year. We had several people express interest in volunteering with BHH. A special Thank you to Cat Vann, Blanca González Miranda and Yoleida Valasquez for making the 2 days fun. Thank you Jeanie Miller for printing the many flyers we needed. | | | | Have Fun - Join the Fundraising Group | | | Our fundraising group has been quiet, but we are starting back up Monday Nov 11th. Several members are not in town during the holidays, which makes it challenging for meetings and ideas. However, we are going to start building on several ideas we have had floating around and getting into the swing of things once the Holidays are over. 1. If you have any ideas for fundraisers and want to help spearhead them, please let me know. 2. Several ideas we have had to maybe expand on: A Night at the Races, A Bunco Night, A Family fair with the Panamanian Community with things like small town county fairs have. 3. The challenge as always is to figure out something that is unique and different. We are also willing to do the Poker Run #2 during the dry season as we are familiar with that and what is required for that event to be successful. | | | | | Weathering the Weather Lloyd Cripe January 8th - 10am at the Boquete Library | | | | Lloyd Cripe is a retired Clinical Neuropsychologist and a veteran of the Vietnam War as a Helicopter Pilot. We have now brought on a social media specialist to help us develop a cohesive marketing approach. His expertise will enable us to effectively communicate the purpose and values of Boquete Hospice and Health through various channels. We are also focused on making it easier to access information about our organization and to sign up for classes and our newsletter. Our aim is for the local community to understand our role and how individuals can engage through volunteering or support. This is a gradual process that will involve ongoing discussions with the Council and Board of Directors.
