We have raised over $3,000 and have over 30 volunteers going to rural schools one to two times per month. We are working to enhance the students' educational experience by providing classes on pet care, animal maintenance, and sterilization. We will also expand their access to reading books, read aloud to the students and by setting up school animal sterilization clinics at the schools, near the students' homes. We have 2 main needs: Volunteers: we'd like to have 1 to 4 volunteers for each school so we can nurture and grow the experience for the children throughout the school year. There are many ways you can help, and Spanish skills are not needed. Financial: we are actively fundraising to be able to buy books and supplies for the Animales presentations, and to create bookcases and reading corners in classrooms. Soon we will be starting a year-end campaign to raise funds to do 5 clinics in rural schools in 2024. There is no better exercise for your heart and soul than reaching out and helping to lift a child. Please click one or both buttons: | | | | GET TO KNOW OUR AMIGOS DE ANIMALES FAMILY | | | This month we're featuring a department head who is one of our hardest working volunteers throughout each month: Name: Jane Pahler Your position/title with AdA: Animal Recovery Supervisor and Volunteer, Team member picking up and delivering huge amounts of pet food monthly, and almost anything else that is needed. How long have you been working with AdA? Nearly 4 years | | | | Can you tell us a little bit more about what you do with AdA? I primarily work and supervise in the recovery section for both dogs and cats. After an animal has been sterilized, the recovery volunteers are there to make sure there are no post operative problems and assist in waking up these dogs and cats. We then find and return the pet to its respective owner. I also volunteer with the cat and dog feeding program, where we buy and distribute approximately $1,800 of pet food each month to persons who have a large number of animals that they are caring for, but who do not have the means to adequately feed them. Why would you encourage others to volunteer here with AdA? Sterilization prevents unwanted litters and transmissible venereal tumors and helps to improve the animals' quality of life.
