Geology Field Trips Are Back!  It is field trip season for visitors and residents alike who are interested in learning something about the fascinating geological landscape that characterizes this part of Panama.  Here is the schedule for January and February. 

January 10:  Volcan.  All day trip to explore the Baru caldera and debris avalanche. 

January 13:  Boquete.  Introduction to field geology and the Boquete landscape.  Half day trip.

January 27:  Jaramillo/Lucero.  Plug intrusion/history of tectonics.  Half day trip.

February 4:  Boquete.  Learn to read the landscape.  Half day.

February 11: Jaramillo/Gualaca.  The study of complex geology..  This is an advanced trip for people who have been on previous trips.  Six hours.  Four wheel drive required.

February 25:  Exploration.  Destination to be announced.  Four wheel drive required. 

February 28:   Boquete local trip.  Introduction to field geology and the landscape around Boquete.  Half day.

All trips will  meet at 8 am and leave from the Boquete Visitor Center.  All trips are free but do require cars and drivers who are willing to take a few extra riders, if needed.  To sign up for a trip please provide the following information:  your name and names of people riding with you, whether you have a car and number of passengers you can accommodate.  Send this information to:  fieldtripboquete@gmail.com.
