I am writing to ask for help with a research project I have undertaken for a mainstream television network. We are looking for real families who have gone off the grid and are living successfully in a jungle environment somewhere in the Americas. The families we hope to find share the following:
- At least one of the members speaks English and is educated
- They live in a self-sustaining manner, i.e., farming their own food, raising livestock, etc.
- Their home was built by hand
- They may have electricity, but not running water
- Their living environment presents challenges in the form of insect and wildlife
Ideally, the family would be extended, to include grandparents and/or adult children, but not necessarily. We are not looking for large communes or religious communities.
I am hoping that you or someone you know may have crossed paths with or heard of such a family. If so, I would be extremely grateful to hear about the family and how to contact them.
Thank you very much,
Arin Farrington
