[News Boquete] Pilates at the Haven- for Men & Women who Want to Learn a Progressive Exercise System which Strengthens the Total Body & Creates Great Posture.

Joseph Pilates originally called his exercise system "Contrology; His book, "Return to Life through Contrology," begins with the opening sentence-" Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness." Joe believed to possess a strong mind and be effective in life, we all need to work toward having a strong and healthy body.

The Pilates Exercise  System is about form, fluidity, concentration, awareness, presence & skill. It is widely diverse, consisting of 3 different levels of difficulty, beyond the introductory exercises. As one gets stronger and fitter, he or she progresses in the system- possibly assisted by props, as the basics are continually cued and developed. All level students practice together, as each person performs to his or her level of ability.

Pilates is Great Fun and a totally satisfying experience. Each student is rewarded through experiencing the fluidity, strength and overall benefits of one's progress.  Pilates helps one be stronger in all activities, as it teaches movement from the core. Moving from the core strengthens the abdomen & back [the muscles protecting & supporting the  lower back and spine]  and promotes greater balance & coordination.


A Pilates Classic- The Roll-Up -

There are many levels of doing a Roll-Up. An Introductory Exercise is a "Roll- down" using a stretchy band, to begin developing the core muscles. As one gets stronger, there are several ways to move students toward performing the full exercise, with total control and fluidity.
  

Ongoing Group Classes- 3 Weekday mornings, on Mondays,Wednesdays and Thursdays, at 8:30- 9:45 a.m. and  on Saturdays, from 10:30- 11:45. a.m. Classes held in the fabulous Yoga/Pilates Studio at the Haven. All classes are $9 each, or a 4 class package can be purchased for $30, all classes to be taken within a month. An unlimited class package is also available for $72. Classes in either package may consist of both weekday and Saturday classes. All props- including mats, fitness rings or magic circles, stretchy bands and light hand weights- are provided. However, do bring a Yoga mat if you have one to be guaranteed two for comfort, as we go down to the floor.
