Fannie Merrit Farmet (1857-1915) Boston, Massachussetts Was an authority in the art of cookery and the author of more than five books. She created the standardized North American system of measurements used in modern cooking
Edna Lewis (1916 - 2006) Orange County, Virginia Championed the use of farm fresh produce in Southern cuisine, establishing the use of fresh vegetables (mainly greens). She is the author of four renowned cookbooks and received over 10 important awards and honors.
