Many people in Boquete will know Dr. Daniel Daves and the work being done by *Global Food Providers* here in Chiriquí. In this recent video <https://shareitly.com/click?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2FaJQW44Cy4NA%3Fsi%3DudcKmLzN1r7E9QBV&dID=1789485571868&hashId=8ee5005763cf3b0ca4197de192c50e74f6db0a63dd74816e0233362b31e2eb2167aa42&linkName=this recent video>(click to view), <https://shareitly.com/click?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2FaJQW44Cy4NA%3Fsi%3DudcKmLzN1r7E9QBV&dID=1789485571868&hashId=8ee5005763cf3b0ca4197de192c50e74f6db0a63dd74816e0233362b31e2eb2167aa42&linkName= (click to view),> Daniel gives a closer look at what they are doing and where they hope to take this project next. We wanted to add one important piece of local context: *the Rotary Club Daniel refers to in the video is the Rotary Sunset Club of Boquete. <https://shareitly.com/click?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Frotarysunsetclubofboquete.com%2Fprojects&dID=1789485571868&hashId=8ee5005763cf3b0ca4197de192c50e74f6db0a63dd74816e0233362b31e2eb2167aa42&linkName=Rotary Sunset Club of Boquete.>* This is one example of where the funds our small Rotary club raises throughout the year actually go. Most recently, we helped provide Global Food Providers with the large commercial dehydrator you will see in the video. That equipment allows fresh vegetables and other nutritious foods to be processed into dehydrated food products that can be stored, transported and distributed to people who need them. Global Food Providers is already providing nutritional support to vulnerable families and children throughout Chiriquí and the Comarca, while developing a model that has the potential to reach much further. And the work is far from finished. Global Food Providers is now looking at expanding its processing capacity and facilities so that considerably more food can be recovered, processed and distributed. Their longer-term plans include developing the facilities and licensing needed to extend this work beyond Panama and provide nutritional support where it is desperately needed elsewhere in the world. *The Rotary Sunset Club of Boquete is continuing to raise funds to help them take the next steps.* This is just one of the many projects supported by our club here in Boquete. The money we raise through our events and activities throughout the year is turned back into projects like this — practical, tangible assistance that can make a real difference in people's lives. We encourage you to watch Daniel's video. It gives you a good idea of what is happening almost on our doorstep, what has already been achieved, and what could be possible with further community support. Sometimes a relatively small Rotary club in a small town can help something considerably bigger grow.
