Is joint stiffness, pain or discomfort affecting you?

Hear how osteopathy has improved the quality of Boquete residents' health

(One residents comment "it has been years and having tried many alternatives to be this pain free")

Osteopathy can treat both acute pain (e.g. from a current injury) and chronic pain (caused by past injuries or health problems). With osteopathy you can find and treat injured muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints. The osteopathic treatment helps the body to function as a balanced and efficient system causing minimum wear and tear. Because of this your body will function better and have more energy.

The osteopathic treatment is gentle and non-invasive. Stretches, gentle joint mobilization and massage-like techniques are used to remove imbalances in mobility. The cranio sacral (osteopathic) therapy is another technique used to rebalance ligaments and strains throughout the body.

How can osteopathy help with "Sciatica"?

Sciatica is a painful syndrome which is caused by compression or irritation of a nerve deep in the buttock and down the leg, called the Sciatic nerve. The symptoms of Sciatica may include one or more of the following: pain in the buttock or down the leg, numbness, muscular weakness, pins and needles or tingling and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Sciatica is commonly accompanied with low back pain.

The pain associated with sciatica can be caused by a number of underlying conditions. These may include: a disc injury in the lower back, arthritis in the low back or hip, tight muscles in the buttock or trauma to the lower back. Sciatica may also be present during pregnancy due to the altered mechanics of the pelvis and low back as the baby grows and develops.

Osteopathic treatment is focused on reducing the pressure on the sciatic nerve by treating the related joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. It is also aimed to improve movement of the rest of the spine which will prevent the possibility of reoccurring problem.

How can osteopathy help with Tennis / Golfers Elbow?

Tennis / golfers elbow (lateral/medial epicondylitis) is a term used to describe a repetitive strain that occurs in the tendon of forearm muscles attached to the elbow region.  Symptoms may include difficulty gripping objects, tightness or a constant ache in the forearm muscles, or swelling in the elbow or forearm.

Osteopathic treatment aid the healing process, improving recovery, by applying techniques to the tissues surrounding the elbow; the muscles, ligaments and the joints. Treatment is also aimed to the joints related to the elbow since a well functioning mechanic of the body is essential to prevent further problems.
