ROTARY Update and Thanksgiving at the Panamonte

Well once again, the Boquete Community has stepped up to the plate and as a result, the Bomberos will have the much needed fluid suction machine that they have been seeking to help with trauma victims.
 
The Rotary sponsored wine and tapas fund raising event at Hotel Ladera, billed as "The Event of the Century" sold out last Friday night, November 11th (11-11-11) and altogether raised $936 of the $1064.65 needed to purchase the machine. This includes $300 in donations from members. Following the event, someone from our community graciously offered to donate the remainder, and the machine has been ordered for the Boquete Bomberos.

 
It has been pointed out to us that our announcement stated that "All Proceeds" would go toward the purchase of the equipment, when it should have stated that "Net Proceeds" would go for this purpose. We apologize for this error.

I would also like to inform or remind residents that The Panamonte Inn and Spa is hosting a lovely Thanksgiving Buffet, one week from today. Having attended it in the past, I know that they put on quite a luxurious spread. For Inga Collins, this is an annual charity event, and we want to thank Inga for deciding that this year, it will jointly benefit the Rotary Clubs of David and Boquete. Tickets are $43 per person and can be purchased at Mail Boxes, Etc., and, I would assume, also at the Panamonte.

Last, I want to announce that Club Rotario de Boquete will be offering beautiful red Poinsettia plants for sale, for $10 each at both of the upcoming Christmas Bazaar events at BCP - Centro de Eventos, on November 25th (the day after Thanksgiving) and again on December 10th (Saturday) from 10:00 to 4:00. Please watch for BCP announcements about these events. Funds raised through these sales will help to provide scholarships to area students. Rotary International is the largest private provider of scholarships in the world, and this is a priority item for our club as well.
