2nd Annual "ReAL Boquete" Cornhole Tournament has been scheduled

Last year we had almost 60 teams compete in a double elimination tournament for the honor of being the Boquete champion.  And although only the first and second place teams earned prizes, everyone, and I mean everyone, had a great time.  If you were there, you know what I mean.  And if you missed it last year, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMaXjI6x128 to see what I am talking about.

 

The format and location for this 2nd event will be identical to the one held last year.  Here are the details:

 

Location:  Gimnasio El Cacho, which is located in Bajo Boquete behind the Terpel gas station, which is on the left side of the main road if you are heading toward David.

 

Format:  Double elimination tournament with every team being composed of 2 players.

 

Date and time:  June 24, 2012.  The gym will open for sign in and practice at 11 a.m., with  competitive play starting promptly at 11:30.

 

Cost:  $20/team  -  covers team entry fee and lunch (hot dog and soft drink or beer for each player). 

If you don't want to compete, but would like to witness the action, spectators will be granted entry to the gym of just $1. 

 

Prizes:  The top 2 teams will win gift certificates to "The Rock" restaurant.

 

And importantly, all of the proceeds from this event will go to support "ReAL Boquete", a non profit group dedicated to protecting the environment by promoting effective waste management practices.  This includes collecting and distributing recyclable materials, so they don't end up in our streets or landfill, and working with the local schools to teach our youth about the value and process of recycling.

 

Tickets will go on sale in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, be sure to mark your calender for Sunday, June 24th.  You don't want to miss this Boquete classic.
