Fwd: [News Boquete] Fwd: An Invitation from Boquete Artworks...

You're Invited to Join Us at Our Next Gathering...

We have lots to share with you in this email about our activities in October and November, but first a reminder! Put November 30th on your calendars - it is our reception at the new library from 4 to 7 pm for "¡El Amor Al Arte!", Boquete's juried art show. More info to come.

On October 19th we had another very well attended gathering where we were delighted to meet and see the work of Frank Abrahams...As you will see from the photos below, Frank has been inspired by Jackson Pollack and has created a wonderful body of colorful & exciting paintings. He demonstrated his techniques and even brought a canvas for all of us to create together.

Robyn gave us some templates to create Christmas Tree Ornaments at our next gathering. We were planning to use these on the tree we will have at our art show. Since then, we have purchased a tree complete with ornaments, so for our gathering on November 16th you will have the option of either making these paper ornaments for your own use, or creating magazine collage ATC's.

Linda brought ATC's that she created from old magazines she had at home. We are going to continue this theme of magazine collage for the November meeting...
Examples below are from her collection. If you'd like to join us in making ATC's with the theme of magazine collage, just bring your old magazines, scissors, glue or other adhesive and some card stock. We'll have loads of fun creating them and then trading them!  If you need information on creating ATC's, just email us and we'll send it to you.

Carrie did a short presentation on Zentangles for her workshop on 10/27, as well as an introduction of the Michael Wilcox School of Color "Split Primary System".  More on this brilliant system to come - a scientifically based system that allows us "to create exactly the color we want every time" and avoid making mud & wasting paint, when mixing colors. Photos of the workshop and Zentangles may come in a separate email, but here is a sampling of the day, below. Photos on the left show the class at work, and the two photos on the right show the progression of a Zentangle from the start
and then in the middle of coloration.

Due to the overwhelming interest, Carrie has scheduled a repeat of this combo workshop for 11/17 and there are still a few seats available!

Directions are:  Heading out of town, five doors past the new library (on the same side of the street), is the "ownboquete.com" building--Magda Crespo's Insurance Office. We are on the right side of the building, and proceed down the stairs to the lower level. Please park on side streets.

We hope to see you there on 11/16 !
