Volunteers Wanted – Make a Difference in the Boquete Community!

 

Boquete Health and Hospice is looking for volunteers with training in the healthcare field. This is to help us accomplish our mission of providing comfort to those dying in our community, both ex-pat and Panamanian.

 

Hospice is all about making the final days, weeks, and hours of a dying patient more comfortable, and helping their family and friends through the process. Helping someone to be free of pain, anxiety, and other uncomfortable symptoms at the end of life is a remarkable gift to give.

Hospice has been the most rewarding experience that I've had in over 40 years of practicing medicine. I never ceased to be amazed at the thankfulness I have received from patients, family, and friends. At the life stories that were shared with me.  At the acceptance that brought me into their family circle almost immediately.

 

I realize that many of you will say, "I don't have any hospice experience."  My response is, "You don't need any."  Your skills in the medical field, combined with the "on-the-job training," backup from the team, and a "hospice heart" are all that's needed.
