I celebrated my birthday last Thursday at the Community Market where I customarily staff the Boquete Knitters and Quilters table. I baked and frosted eight dozen(!) cupcakes to share with you. You came. You saw. You ate! And, I believe, enjoyed.
Why/how is that meaningful? I'm glad you asked!
The cupcakes were free, my gift to you. I did, however, ask for donations to the cause that is nearest and dearest to my heart: Boquete Knitters and Quilters. Donations to go towards the purchase of yarn – soft, colorful, warm, durable yarn with which to knit and crochet little blankets, little caps, little booties, little sweaters – so that we can continue to create soft, colorful, warm, durable and beautiful gifts for our tiniest and neediest neighbors.
And donate you did! You gave from your hearts to us. And those so-great birthday gifts bring meaning – significance – value to my birthday. Please know that your gifts are truly saving the lives of babies. Of tiny humans.
I cannot possibly name all of you – your response was overwhelming – but I must recognize at least a couple of you. You wonderful people at Casa Solutions! Your so-generous gift will allow us to knit literally dozens of baby things! And, Kimberly, just to see you again, no longer the sweet, shy little Sunday School scholar of over a decade ago, but all grown up and a college senior – that was truly a gift from Heaven for me!
"Thank you" is insufficient to express my love and gratitude.
