Bus Trip to Drua Embera Indian Village – January 23, 24, 25, 2018

One of the magical things about Panama is its diverse mix of cultures and lifestyles. A trip with us to the Embera Village will give you a glimpse, and some insight, of traditional tribal lifestyles in Panama. Professional English speaking guides take you on this unforgettable tour into the heart of the Panamanian rain forest. This is an all day trip so we leave early in the morning and get back before dark. We start on the Chagres river on traditional cayuco (dug-out canoe) to the Drua Embera Indian village. There you will be welcomed by the villagers who will give you an introduction to the culture, religion, art, language, food, and lifestyle of their people. You will be served a traditional lunch of Tilapia fish and fried plantains. Other presentations include an explanation of medicinal plants, a trail walk through the jungle, a musical dance and performance, and the chance to swim in a crystal clear river. www.easytravelpanama.net for more information on the Drua Indian Village.

The itinerary is: Jan. 23, 2018 Tuesday – Leave Boquete 8am. Travel by tour bus to Panama City. Enjoy mimosa and a continental type breakfast on the way. We will stop along the way for short breaks. Lunch in Santiago (lunch and tips included). We arrive at Coral Suites Hotel to check in. Rooms are based on 2 people per room. Coral Suites has reserved 10 rooms with 1 King bed and 10 rooms with 2 double beds. Room availability is first come, first serve bases. Single occupancy an additional charge. Dinner at Pomodoro Italian Restaurant (dinner and tip included).

Jan. 24, 2018 Wednesday – Breakfast at Coral Suites Hotel (included) before boarding the 8:00 am bus to the river. About a 2 hour drive. We board cayuco boats that will take us down the river to the Drua Village. We will spend the entire day at the village. At the village, woven baskets, carved tagua seeds, and cocobolo wood carvings  are offered for sale at a lower price than at the stores in Panama.

We will return to the Coral Suites Hotel late. This evening will be on your own as well as your dinner if you still have energy left.

Jan. 25, 2018 Thursday – After breakfast at Coral Suites Hotel (included) we will board the bus and go visit Casco Viejo for a guided tour. If you wish you can walk and tour the city on your own. This is the old city of Panama with many places to visit and shop. As we begin our journey back home we will take a different route and stop by Westland Mall to do some shopping and/or visit the food court, this is on your own. We expect to return to Boquete early evening.
