Moratorium on Expired Vehicle License Plates Extended, and
the Updated Bio-Safety Entrance Protocol at Tocumen Airport
As the "reopening" of Panama gets underway from the Covid-19 pandemic there are a lot of changes taking place. This email provides information about two aspects of life in Panama that may affect you.
First, ATTT (the government agency that administers vehicle registration, and matters related to owning and driving vehicles) has announced that enforcement of the expired automobile license plates ("placas" in Spanish) will continue to be suspended until the end of October 2020. "This [moratorium] measure applies [only] to vehicles with a license plate whose expiration date corresponds to the months of July, August, September and October, since the plates from previous months are available to taxpayers for their withdrawal." Second, the bio-safety entrance protocol at Tocumen Airport has been updated. One of CL's members has posted a very good article outlining the new entrance protocol that becomes effective on October 12th, when Tocumen officially reopens for routine commercial passenger traffic.
