Boquete Health and Hospice Introduces New Mental Health Hotline for Seniors

Dear Boquete community members,

We are pleased to announce a new service designed specifically with you in mind. Boquete Health and Hospice (BHH) has launched a Mental Health Hotline, available daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This initiative aims to provide crucial support to our senior community members who may be facing mental health challenges.

 About Our Hotline

Two experienced volunteers have spearheaded this important service:

1. John Earle: A spiritual teacher, relationship counselor, and interpersonal communications consultant.

2. Dr. Daniel Gallagher: A retired clinical therapist.

Both John and Daniel bring years of experience in addressing grief, depression, and related emotional issues that often affect seniors.

 How It Works

When you call our hotline, you can expect:

- A confidential conversation with a trained volunteer

- A safe, judgment-free space to discuss your concerns

- Guidance in accessing local resources that can help you

While our counselors are not bilingual, they are well-trained in identifying and connecting you with appropriate local resources, ensuring you receive the support you need.

 Why It Matters

As we age, we often face unique challenges that can affect our mental well-being. These may include:

- Adjusting to retirement

- Coping with health issues

- Dealing with loss and grief

- Feeling isolated or lonely

Our hotline is here to help you navigate these challenges and maintain your mental health.

 After-Hours Support

We understand that mental health concerns don't always arise during business hours. If you find yourself needing support after 4:00 PM, here are some strategies you can try:

1. Practice mindfulness or meditation: Take a few deep breaths or try a simple meditation exercise. You can access free guided meditations 24/7 through Free Meditation Worldwide athttps://www.freemeditation.com.

2. Reach out to a friend or family member: Sometimes, a conversation with someone you trust can provide immediate relief and perspective.

3. Use online resources: The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) offers a comprehensive list of resources for immediate help and finding mental health care providers. Visithttps://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/find-help for more information.

Remember, your mental health matters at every age. Don't hesitate to reach our hotline during operating hours if you need assistance. We're here to support you on your journey to better mental health and overall well-being. We are currently researching how we can refer you to mental health professionals in David. When we have that updated information we will share with the local community via our Facebook page and other social media channels. Thank you for your support.
