[News Boquete] A distemper warning from the Amigos de Animales

Be Aware:  Last Sunday at our Amigos de Animales sterilization clinic,  dogs from two areas around Boquete were found to have distemper and some were euthanized as the symptoms were so strong.  This is a highly contagious disease and almost always fatal with a lot of suffering in between.  It is a virus spread mostly among dogs via saliva and breathing; cats rarely if ever get it. The areas affected were Palo Alto toward Tree Trek and Alto Lino. If your dog is up to date on its vaccinations, no need to worry.  You do not need another.  We are purchasing 100 vials of the 5 in 1 vaccine and will be going into those areas to vaccinate as many as we can over the next few weeks.  If you know the representante from either of these areas, please respond to this message with contact information.  We can work with him or her to gather the animals into one area.  Humans are not affected.   Donations accepted!  Please respond to this email with questions.
