[Noticias] Keratin Hair Smoothing and Straightening Comes To Boquete!

For my female friends who would like their hair enriched and straightened:
Once I tried them, I became addicted to Keratin smoothing treatments. Didn't want to give it up so I found a way to bring the service here to Boquete. Product is very expensive and treatment takes 3 hours, but my God, is it ever worth it. Took 10 years off my age I am told and my hair is so healthy and shiney. For April, as long as product lasts, Flory of Salon de Belleza in small mall right there at the Boquete bridge (near Romero) will be offering this treatment for $120 for short hair, $135 for medium and $150 for long. I have paid $210-$250 in USA. Treatment lasts 3-6 months, depending on how you care for it (cleansing products you use and how frequently you wash your hair). Call Anya for more information at 6549-6969 or drop by and see Flory at the salon to make an appointment. We have only a limited supply of the product available so call soon if you are interested.(As an aside: I have no financial interest .... just a personal interest in having this service available.) Best, Anya

[Noticias] Salsa and Merengue at Zanzibar

Hablaya Spanish School is inviting every citizen who wishes to dance Salsa and Merengue at Zanzibar this THursday 31 of March 2011 at 8h30pm.

We have had a lot of success lately so we wish that our Boquetenos could also be part of the event.

Beers are at 0.75$  until 10h00pm. For every cocktail you will buy, 1$ will go to the Orphanage located in Alto Boquete. If you want to donate something instead of giving money, you could bring dry food, atun, milk powder for kids or infant, soap for  clothes or regular soap. You can also ask Julie to know what they need and bring it to the school in the future days...

See you than...

ZANZIBAR AND HABLAYA SPANISH SCHOOL TEAM

[Noticias] Buy a painting, donate to your favorite charity!

World-renowned Chinese brush paintings artist, Viviane Lachaud is giving 50% to 70% of the price paid for her one-of-a kind paintings to the charity of your choice!  It is like paying half price or less for a beautiful painting because the rest is donated to your favorite charity.  For example for a $400 painting, Viviane will donate at least $200 to the charity of your choice.

Viviane has agreed to open her beautiful home in Jaramillo Abajo for viewing and buying.  She will produce a receipt from your favorite charity to show the donation.  This is a very clever way to support your charity and have a priceless treasure in your home or office.

These beautiful Chinese brush paintings were showcased at The Studio under the watchful eye of Chris McCall during the month of March.

Call Viviane direct to view the paintings at 720-4178 or email her atviviannelachaud@yahoo.com

[Noticias] audio recordings from the recent Boquete Jazz Festival

Approximately one month ago witnessed the Fifth Annual Boquete Jazz Festival at the BCP Theater and other venues here in the area. The Jazz Festival was larger than just the stage performances, as it included wine tasting events, "after-parties" and jam sessions at various restaurants, free public performances in the gazebo at the park, music clinics for aspiring musicians, etc.

For those volunteers who supported the event, and for those who attended the performances (supporting with their ticket purchases), and for those who simply are jazz aficionados, the audio recordings of the five recorded stage performances has now been published and is available on-line, without cost.

The songs for each of the five recorded jazz quartets have been grouped into sets, one set for each of the five recorded quartets . The following five URLs provide access to those five sets. It should be obvious once at the web site how to play all songs in a set, or how to select individual songs within a set. These URLs are listed in the order they were performed/recorded. It is not necessary to create an account on the web site or to provide any personal information in order to listen to these recordings.

For the Ibrahim Merel Jazz Quartet, from Thursday, February 24th:

For the Spicy Latin Jazz Quartet, from Friday, February 25th:

For the  Carlos Garnett Jazz Quartet, from Friday, February 25th:

For the Carlos Ubarte Jazz Quartet, from Saturday, February 26th:

For the Pat Belliveau Jazz Quartet with special guest Jon Day, from Saturday, February 26th:

Because these are full-fidelity recordings (not compressed or dumbed-down in any manner, e.g., MP3 format), it is recommended that you listen with the best speakers or headphones that you have available so as to experience the real impact of these performances..

These audio cuts are being published for your enjoyment and also with the hope that you will volunteer for or support the Sixth Annual Boquete Jazz Festival in 2012.. It is my understanding that next year's event may become the Sixth Annual Boquete Blues and Jazz Festival (as opposed to jazz genre only).

I wish to close with a personal thank you to the many dozens of people who gave this event their total commitment. I include BCP in that list for its sponsorship. This event could not have happened without many very special people giving of themselves without expectation of anything in return. I rarely have seen a community come together as ours did, with the result that our community has been enriched and continues to gain in stature.

Sincerely,
Bud Huber
