ANNOUNCEMENT From The Chiriqui Players

Heather Macaulay has retired from The Chiriquí Players. Heather Macaulay is returning to Canada and we are very sad to lose her. Heather was instrumental in making The Chiriquí Players a viable theatre company and has been with us since our third production - Silvia. Heather produced Silvia, El Grande de Coca Cola, The Beauty Queen of Lenaane and The Long Weekend, all of which helped us grow as a company and solidified our place in the community. Heather not only produced but also managed the box office and the finances and did a superb job. We miss her already and hope that she will return from Canada soon. We wish her well in her travels and adventures to the frozen tundra. Diana Symes Returns to the UK Diana Symes, our graphics designer and web mistress has returned to the UK for business and personal reasons all of which could only be resolved by her presence back in the UK. Fortunately for us in this day and age she can manage our design and web needs from afar. All the same we wish her a speedy resolution and safe return to Panama. We Still Need Bench Warmer One Act Play Contest Submissions We have received about six one act plays for our Bench Warmer production but we need more from local authors before we consider other writer for our Mini-Play Festival. The deadline is May first. Please submit your play to Bob Applegate at whtyford65@yahoo.com The rules are simple: Plays must be a maximum of 15 minutes long and only use a park bench on an empty stage as the setting. There are no other limitations and you can have one or forty characters in your plays. Keep in mind that you will serve as your own producer and can either direct them yourself, choose a director, be in them yourself or use other actors that will audition. We will have day set aside for a meeting of directors and writers and then another day set aside for your auditions. PLAYWRIGHTS: A first production meeting will be held to orientate the winning authors to the process, their role as producer, what happens next, and so on. Playwrights should bring two copies of their script and a brief summary of their play, to offer to potential directors (if they do not have a director) who will be stopping by about a half an hour later in the evening. Playwrights should also plan to attend the auditions and bring with them 20 copies of a character synopsis page and play summary page (more about this at orientation). | |
