Greetings Fellow Humanitarians!
Do you have a passion for working with teens and bettering the community of Boquete? Are you a social entrepreneur and have the leadership skills it takes to lead an organization?
As most of you already know The Starfish Teen Center was launched in November 2009 to serve the teen population of our community! The center has been running for almost 6 months and has over 70 local teenagers registered! During this time teens have been regularly attending Free English classes taught by native English speakers, homework club and activities based on improving self-esteem, goal setting, human rights, volunteerism and leadership. There is also an established teen council, a scholarship program in collaboration with All About Kids, Inc & a mentorship and services program.
As a haven for young people the center has given teens a positive environment and a positive network to belong to. This has not only helped the teens themselves but also their families, some of whom do not have the time or money to give their children extra opportunities. It has also helped the community of Boquete where the teens have contributed their time to community projects such as community clean-ups and community events such as Bid 4 Boquete.
The Starfish teen centre is now looking for a new Executive Director to lead this project. Ideally The Starfish Teen Center will obtain nonprofit status in Panama or be taken in by an already established nonprofit organization. This project is already up and running and has been designed with the intention of it being taken over by the people of Boquete for the community of Boquete.
