Crime is Down - Since the arrest of Ozzie, who is awaiting trial in David, crime reported to Alto al Crimen is way down. We can all be thankful and attribute the situation to a variety of factors - cooperation with the police, knowledge in the community that crimes will no longer go unanswered, and the vigilance of Boquete residents in making their homes less desirable for potential burglars. However, even in this time of relative calm, we cannot afford to let our guard down and must jump on any and every crime before it is allowed to metastasize into a cancer that threatens us all. FLASH - As this was being written, we learned of a burglary (laptop, jewelry etc.)  that took place in Jaramillo over two weeks ago. The laptop had a GPS in it and there is every reason to believe that it could have been recovered and the thief arrested if it had been effectively investigated within 24 hours. It was not, and now the valuables are gone to Volcan and the thief is emboldened to strike us again. Bumper Stickers - Thanks to the generosity of a certain Boquete resident, we now have a new supply of our popular "We Support Our Police" bumper stickers available at Las Ruinas restaurant in Las Brisas for a minimum $20 donation to Alto al Crimen. The money received is used to support the Boquete Hot Line service and assist in the investigation of crimes. By the way, the Commissioner of Police likes them too…
