Fwd: [News Boquete] News from the British Consulate

The British Consulate is strengthening its consular network in Panama and its communication with the British resident community by proposing to share information on a bi-monthly basis, to be disseminated via the warden network.  My name is Tricia Daugherty and I am the warden for the Boquete/David Area.

If you belong in one of the categories listed below and wish to receive ongoing information from the Consulate, please contact me at triciaboquete@hotmail.com to add your name to the mailing list.  This is also an opportunity for me to update my local list.
We live in a transient society and many people arrive and leave without my knowledge; even if you have received communications in the past, please confirm that you are still in the area, together with your name, contact email and telephone numbers.
If you prefer that your personal contact information is not shared with the Consulate please lnform me and I will not forward any sensitive material - merely count the number of people in the British community.

Who can the British Consulate help?
They can provide consular assistance to British nationals travelling or living in Panama. A UK nationality law includes six different categories.  You are a British national if you are one of the following:

A British Citizen

A British Overseas Territories Citizen

A British Overseas Citizen

A British National (Overseas)

A British Subject

A British Protected Person
However, because of local and international laws, they might not be able to offer you full support if you are a dual national and your other nationality is Panamanian.
Also, they cannot help non-British nationals; no matter how long they have lived in the UK and what their connections are to the UK.
The only exception to this rule is where a specific agreement exists with another state, for example, the agreement between European Union member states to help those EU nationals without a local embassy or consulate. The Consulate may also help Commonwealth nationals  if they do not have any diplomatic or consular representation in Panama.

I look forward to hearing from you so I may forward additional information.
Tricia Daugherty
