[News Boquete] May Animales Clinic Recap

On Sunday May 31, 2015, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 223 animals: 100 dogs and 123 cats.  This was the first time we have ever had more cats than dogs – they just kept coming!  All of which is good news since cats, starting around age 5 months, can give birth to three litters of kittens per year and with an average of four kittens per litter; this could result in up to 180 kittens in her lifetime! Then as those litters reproduce, thousands more kittens could be born.  Every person who brings in their cats and/or dogs is doing a tremendous service to the community by preventing homelessness and starvation in our local animals.

Thank you to all our volunteers who worked through the long hot day. And a big thank you to super-volunteer Barbara Phillips (and husband Ian) who not only worked at set-up and all day at the clinic, she also took home all the dirty sheets and towels that are used throughout the day. This is a huge task involving about 15 loads of wash and then the sorting and folding of it all at the end.  Thank you Barbara and Ian!

We are an organization that runs on care, compassion, hard work…and good food!  Many thanks to those who keep us well provisioned throughout the day.  Everyone loves Nancy's breakfasts and Nairn's lunches and now we have Delia Hoffman who has been bringing us delicious food and soups as well.  Thank you to Mariel for the fabulous lettuce, such a treat!  And thanks to Heidi for the pizzas, a favorite of the vets.

The next clinic will be on Sunday June 28.  For an appointment, call Magaly at 6563-8686 or email boqueteanimales@gmail.com.

But wait, there's more!

Fundacion Amigos de Animales Boquete will be holding its Annual Meeting on Saturday June 13 at 10AM.  Immediately following will be a cross-training session to learn about the other stations and expand your skills. This will be held at our facility in Alto Boquete

On Wednesday, June 17, Animales will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a spay-getti and meatball dinner. Please join us for all the fun; more information will follow soon.
