[News Boquete] Irene Haines Update -- Friday 26 June

Irene is doing a little -- repeat, LITTLE -- better today.  Her heart has been beating regularly all day today.  Since she has been in Intensive Care, she has had a ventilator to help her breathe and to give her lungs an opportunity to heal.  Because of the ventilator tube, she cannot speak, but she does know that I am checking on her.  She looks at me and can nod her head.

She is still seriously ill, quite weak, and does not need visitors.  (Gail Cody and I, as nurses, don't count as "visitors".)  I've let her know everyone's care and concern.

If you want to send her a card, please take it to the Handicap Foundation, or bring it to the book tables at the Tuesday Market.  They do not allow flowers in Intensive Care, and have no place to keep cards.

She knows that her house is being watched and that her cats are being cared for.
