June 9: Dr Karen Zapata, Dermatologist will discuss the effects of our intense sun and risks for skin cancer.

June 16: Jeffery Dietrich The presentation will be on the ecology of the cloud forest highlighting the flora and fauna

June 23: Subject: What to do When the Lights go Out.

A complete over view of all forms of alternative energy from candles to the new tesla system.  Pros and cons of candles, oil lamps, UPS system, generators, grid tied batteries, solar, hydro, wind.
Basic cost of doing different systems.
An understanding of all the parts of each system and what they do.
Discussion of batteries from lead acid to tesla's lithium battery.
Learn the basics of understanding electricity - watts, amps, volts, ohms - delivered in a simple and easy to understand way.
Learn how to size a system for your needs.
How to reduce power usage.
What is required to manage each system.
Where to get everything.

All attendees will receive a link to the notes and a spreadsheet calculator for sizing a solar/hydro system.

Chris McCall was the designer of the solar hydro systems at rancho de caldera a 70 panel system with 4 hydro generators.  He also designed systems for Jerry Hedrick and Lorraine Handler.  Chris no longer does consulting and is not promoting any products/services with this talk, it is purely for information.

June 30: Miguel Chang will try to answer all the question discussed on BoqueteNing about his condo project on the Highway near the Cefati Building.

Used Book Sales
Well over 350 used books DVDs and CDs for sale and U.S. stamps
for your mail. All proceeds from the book sales are equally divided between Handicap Foundation of Boquete and Carolina Alvarez Concepcion who is blind. Now also selling Milagros Pinzon's book about Boquete for $5.00 and Stanley Heckadon-Noreno's book "Naturalists on the Isthmus of Panama" for $15.00. Donations of books, Cds, DVDs, magazines and jigsaw puzzles will be gratefully received.

Amigos de Animales de Boquete (FADAB) provides spay/neuter clinics on the last Sunday of each month on the same street at Mike's Global Grill. In addition, FADAB provides feeding stations around town and supports the rescue and adoption efforts for area homeless dogs and cats.
