| | In this Issue - December 2025 | | | | | | | | | Big Daddy's Toys for Kids Event: A Wonderful Day of Generosity | | | | | The Big Daddy's Toys for Kids lunch and dinner events on November 23 were a tremendous success! The restaurant was filled with lively conversation, delicious food and cocktails, and the unmistakable warmth of the Christmas spirit. Guests arrived with unwrapped Christmas toys, creating a joyful sense of community kindness. Our sincere thanks go to Chris Young, who—true to tradition—was an outstanding host. Chris generously donated $4 from every meal to the toy drive, adding to the evening's meaningful impact. Some patrons chose to contribute cash instead of a toy, and our Christmas Elves will use those funds to purchase age-appropriate gifts for every child on our list. A portion of the toys and cash donations will be shared with ACCB to help bring Christmas cheer to children in the Comarca. In addition to the toys, over $1,100 was raised in cash. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended this beloved holiday tradition, as well as to those who have been donating toys at local businesses. Thanks to you, hundreds of children will experience the magic of Christmas this year. We will continue accepting toy and cash donations throughout December. You can make cash donations at the Buenos Vecinos table at the Thursday market, or you can drop off unwrapped toys at the following locations: • Mailboxes, Etc. • Big Daddy's • Stone Cabins • The Garden Restaurant • Tacoholics • House Hunters Panama We also want to give a huge thanks to the Boquete Knitters and Quilters for a spectacular donation of 30 beautiful quilts and 28 knitted toys along with hats and sweaters for the many infants and toddlers on our list. For 17 years this dedicated group has been providing baby hats, sweaters, quilts and more to area hospitals and local organizations. Genarina is a single mother, doing her best to care for Karen, a 27-year-old with partial paralysis. They have been in our program for several years and, during that time, their quality of life has greatly improved. Going beyond the monthly delivery of food, BVB has been able to help in other meaningful ways. One year, one of our volunteers built a bathroom in the home they share, with financial assistance from the Rotary Club. On another occasion, a volunteer helped Karen enroll in the government program, Guardian Angel, which provides monthly financial assistance for rent and medical bills. | | | | | | | | | | | | | If you would like to have a meaningful impact in the life of a needy individual or family, please consider making a donation or, better yet, becoming a monthly donor. You can sponsor a family for only $50 a month. Please see the article below. | | | | | | | Buenos Vecinos now has a permanent home! For years, we did our monthly food pack at the Handicap Foundation, who generously gave over their space for the day for the packing of food for 150 families, many of whom were also clients of the Foundation. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We then moved to the Amigos de Animales building, which gave us more space. This month we move operations to our very own warehouse in Los Naranjos. It is located behind the Toledano building, directly across from the big gymnasium. Not only does the warehouse give us plenty of space for packing, we will be installing shelving to store lots of food, allowing us to buy more items in bulk and lowering food costs. We will be sharing the space with Amigos de Boquete, an organization that works with the schools to provide food for school lunches. They were previously located in a small space next to the Alto Dorado market, which afforded little room for storing food, so this new location works very well for them. Big News!! We plan to open a community food pantry in the new space, which will allow us to expand our reach and serve more families who need a little extra help. We are ironing out all the details of how this new enterprise will work, so stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Sponsor a Family Through Monthly Giving | | | | | At Buenos Vecinos de Boquete, we believe that no family in our community should struggle to put food on the table. Every month, more than 160 vulnerable households—many with children, seniors, or individuals with disabilities—depend on the food bags we deliver. These families count on us. And we count on the kindness of people like you. Becoming a monthly donor is one of the most impactful ways to support a needy family. Your steady gift ensures that a family receives nutritious food every month of the year, giving them dignity, security, and hope. Why Monthly Giving Matters Monthly donations allow us to plan ahead, purchase food in bulk at lower cost, and guarantee that every family we serve receives a complete food bag—no matter the season or economic challenges. This reliable support keeps our program strong and stable. What Your Gift Provides Just $50 a month supplies one family with a food delivery containing pantry staples such as rice, beans, flour, pasta, oatmeal, canned goods and more. For many of the families we serve, this food support makes all the difference between going hungry and having the nourishment they need. A Personal, Lasting Impact When you sponsor a family, you aren't just giving food—you're giving peace of mind, compassion, and a reminder that someone cares. Month after month, your generosity becomes a lifeline for a family facing hardship. Join Us Today If you are able, please consider becoming a monthly donor. Your contribution—no matter the amount—creates real and lasting change right here in Boquete. It's so easy to become a monthly donor through our PayPal account. We have provided emergency food support on many occasions and have been successful in helping families through hard times. We will help them with food support until the working age adults in the family can find enough income to become self-sustaining. | | | | | If you prefer to donate by cash or local check, please visit our table at the Boquete Community Market on Thursdays in the Amigos De Animales building, or contact Trish at BuenosVecinos79@gmail.com | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | View email in browser Buenos Vecinos de Boquete · Boquete, Chiriqui · Panama City · Panama Buenos Vecinos de Boquete, Inc. is a non-profit charitable corporation with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status (IRS Determination Letter 26053497010525).
