Their belief in an afterlife led to the burial of jewelry, weapons, tools, pottery and other possessions to help them transition to the other world. It is illegal to sell genuine huacas in Panama but great craftsmanship goes into making the reproductions. This is our largest huaca measuring 12.5" high x 7" across.

Donated by Gunnar Lindahl. Measures 15.5" x 22.5" This stained glass window was created by Aurea Maria Oliveria Santos, an artist from Brazil who currently lives and works in San AndrƩs island. Gunnar and his wife had an apartment in San Andreas in the 80's and purchased this window from the artist. Aurea's most famous work is the large mural facing the San AndrƩs airport terminal. In addition to stained glass, the artist also works in paper mache, wood, plastic,metal drawings, fabric painting, etc.

Hand-Woven Silk & Rayon Scarf

Beautiful, one-of-a-kind hand-woven scarf created and donated by Linda Comstock-Teel. Linda has been a weaver for 25 years and has won numerous awards for her weaving skills. The scarf is 60" x 6.5" and is made of 50% hand dyed silk (green) and 50% rayon (black). Linda says the different shades of green remind her of the mountains surrounding Boquete.

Hand-dyed and hand-painted by Margo Bryant Ahuna, this beautiful robin's egg blue rayon scarf has hummingbirds and sprays of flowers on the two ends and is trimmed in delicate leaves and dots. It measures 72 inches long by 6 inches wide and, due to the highest quality fabric paint, including some iridescent ones, is hand-washable and ironable. "Step On Art" designed, created and donated by Carol Cardinale Santana. Floor cloths started in 18th Century England. Made of heavy canvas, each floor cloth is hand painted and receives several coats of varnish for a durable, yet flexible surface. Colors will not fade. They are whimsical designs. Pictured size is 21" x 29" and signed/dated by the artist.

Floor cloths are used much like a rug and can be cleaned with a sponge and soap. They will not get mold. Carol can create them in various sizes and designs, even custom designs.

Beautiful 10" hand-made Mora bowl donated by David van Harn. Mora is a durable hardwood from northern South America and Central America. David doesn't do fancy, detailed turnings, but rather uses the lathe and a natural buffed-on coat of pure Brazilian carnauba wax to highlight the beauty of the wood via shapes and visual lines that are usually simple and elegant. And each piece is finished to a very high standard.
