[News Boquete] Message for U.S. Citizens: Delay in the Delivery of U.S. Civil Service Retirement Checks

DELAY IN THE DELIVERY OF U.S. CIVIL SERVICE RETIREMENT CHECKS

This is to inform all U.S. Civil Service retirees and beneficiaries that the U.S. Embassy has not yet received the Civil Service checks dated April 1, 2015.   As soon as we receive the checks they will be delivered to the Postal Center and other institutions for distribution.

This information does not apply to those who are receiving their benefits through International Direct Deposit since those funds were electronically transferred directly to their bank accounts.   If you are receiving paper checks and you wish to receive your payments electronically, please visit the bank of your preference to complete the enrollment form or you may contact us at 317-5000 for more information on International Direct Deposit.

The U.S. Embassy regrets any inconvenience this may cause.

For up-to-date information on security, Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department's Internet web site at http://travel.state.gov.  Further information on safety and security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the United States and Canada toll-free at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).

U.S. citizens who travel to or reside in Panama are encouraged to enroll in the State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).  By enrolling, you make it easier for the U.S. Embassy to contact you in case of an emergency.
