Dear the residents of Boquete,
The healthcare volunteers of Spanish by the River sent out an email last week with information regarding the auction that we have organized for Centro de Salud 'Beatriz Kant'. We received several responses from people requesting more background information about the clinic, and we have provided detailed information below.
Centro de Salud 'Beatriz Kant' is the clinic located right next to the supermarket 'Romero'. The facility provides care for individuals who do not have insurance. Among other services, they also provide milk powder for pregnant women and mothers to ensure that the children receive adequate nutrition.
What needs to be done? Areas of the clinic that need renovation include the ceilings, floors, doors, and windows. We have also witnessed unsanitary conditions in the facility, and garbage containment needs to be improved.
What's our plan? We are hosting an auction in which we will sell various items and activities collected from businesses in Boquete, and the profits gained go directly to the renovation project of Centro de Salud. In the past week, we have been busy compiling items and activities for the action, and so far, businesses have donated horseback riding tours, full course dinners, Spanish classes, and overnight stays in Boquete!!! We will send out another reminder email next week with ALL THE ITEMS that will be included in the auction!
The event will take place on Thursday the 26th of May in the location of Restaurant Barú at 5pm.
