Bid 4 Boquete: Kick Off Meeting and Status Report

Hola to the Greater Boquete Community:

We're starting to organize for the next Bid 4 Boquete function and we need your help. A kick-off meeting for all people willing to help on the next Bid 4 Boquete will be held on Monday, June 20, 2 PM at the Bar/Restaurant area of El Oasis Hotel. Please come by to offer your ideas, talents, and time to this great cause.

A couple of things to bring to your attention:

   1. By vote of the executive committee we have changed the date of the two-day event from December to February because of the larger number of visitors and residents in town in February. The exact dates are Saturday, Feb 11 and Sunday Feb 12, 2012.
 
 2. Nevia Mayers has replaced Martine Heyer as Treasurer for the group. We are so happy to welcome Nevia who has an extraordinary track record in fund raising.
  
3. We have already secured a $5000 event sponsorship from Banco General and the money is in the B4B account.

Last year we raised close to $58,000. We distributed it thusly:

• $12500 to Fundacion Pro-Integracion (Handicap Foundation)
• $12500 to Amigos de Animales (spay & neuter clinics)
• $12500 to Club de Leones (library project)
• $12500 to Buenos Vecinos de Boquete (feed the needy)
• $1000 to Central Salud de Boquete for renovation project
• $1000 to Dead Wheat Foundation for smokeless stoves in the Comarca
• $1000 to REAL Boquete for the recycling center
• $1000 to GHSA for supplies for the clinic at Casa Hogar Trisker
• $1000 to the Boquete Bomberos for medical equipment for the ambulance
