Ozzie arrest - The Rest of the Story

Reply To: Alto al Crimen <info@altoalcrimen.org>

Today, thanks to Lee Zeltzer, we have a more complete writeup on the capture of Ozzie this last Sunday. It is posted here: http://www.boqueteguide.com/?p=6515

Many people are asking questions about what will happen next:

What will he be charged with? At this point we don't know in full detail. It will take some weeks or more to finalize the list, as his capture and investigation of evidence in his possession may lead to additional charges in connection with recent crimes in Boquete.

Will he be deported back to the US? Nobody knows for sure, although Ozzie himself might find that option more palatable than many years in a Panamanian prison. This will undoubtably be the subject of intense negotiation as his prosecution moves forward.

How do we know he will stay in prison this time? The charges now are much more serious than before. In particular, possession of an unlicensed hand gun is a big deal in Panama. In addition, the police were somewhat embarrassed that he was allowed to get out last time and are working hard to make sure it does not happen again.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions and/or information that might be pertinent to Ozzie.
