Aug. 30: Moderator Lee, Last week a court in David convicted Ron Mcgrew a retired US policeman of murder. His defense was self defense, yet he was convicted by a 7-0 jury decision. We will not be discussing this case, we do not have the facts. Julio Espinosa, a local attorney and I will discuss Self Defense under the laws of Panama. The goal of this discussion will be to educate and advise you on your rights so further tragedies can be avoided. If you have a weapon in your home or just want to understand the law do not miss this meeting. The meeting will be bilingual so please invite Spanish speakers also.

Sept. 6: Moderator Dianne, Attorney Rainelda Mata-Kelly will be our speaker. I have met with Rainelda and discussed her presentation. It might run long. I have asked her to address, immigration law, property law, the tourist visa and issues people have had with driving after 90 days in country. Those who have heard Rainelda in the past know she is very competent and she help me clear the fog around some other legal claims by a local attorney.
Sept. 13: Moderator Keith Woolford , Augusto R. Arosemena M.D. will speak on "Important Eyes Deseases": Cataract, Glaucome, Dry Eyes, and other eye problems. Come with your eye questions.
Sept 20: Moderator Lee , A Presentation about Chiriqui's Culture, Customs and Traditions, with special emphasis in each town's "patronales" and "ferias"

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete
Buenos Vecinos de Boquete is a small group of volunteers who deliver food supplies to the handicapped and elderly on a monthly basis. You can make donations of food or money (or both) at the Tuesday meeting. For more information, see Irene at the meeting.

Used Book Sales
Well over 350 used books DVDs and CDs for sale and U.S. stamps
for your mail. All proceeds from the book sales are equally divided between Handicap Foundation of Boquete, Buenos Vecinos and Carolina Alvarez Concepcion who is blind. Now also selling Milagros Pinzon's book about Boquete for $5.00 and Stanley Heckadon-Noreno's book "Naturalists on the Isthmus of Panama" for $15.00. Donations of books, Cds, DVDs, magazines and jigsaw puzzles will be gratefully received.
Amigos de los Animales, the group that sterilizes, provides feeding stations and supports the rescue and adoption of dogs and cats is always looking for dog and cat food and monetary donations for medicines as well as clinics. See Carole, Cat, or Heather at the "animales" booth near the auditorium door for your donations. Do a good deed and foster or adopt a rescued animal.
