[News Boquete] Three dedicated ladies

With the advent of Hunny and the pups, the 3 ladies who devote their lives to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-housing animals have very much been in my attention. Carol Newsome, Judy Saco and Marion Torgany. I have worked with them all of course, and have known Carols extent of dedication for two years. Love and devotion to the animals aside, lately I have come to fully understand the financial commitment these ladies find themselves in. Since she has no pensionada, Marion has to clean houses to make ends meet while looking after 12 rescue dogs, (one disabled) 3 rescue horses, plus the neighbours 5 dogs,( who is no longer there apparently,) as well as a very sick husband. She tries hard to continue with her jewellery work, but so often there are simply not enough hours in the day, much less energy and/or creative expression available. This week Carol has been staying in a run down panamanian house with no hot water on the other side of David because there was no where else for her to take the rescues. Between the two of them they are managing over 100 dogs and puppies, while Judy is looking after nearly 40 cats and kittens. These sorts of numbers are mind boggling to the rest of us, even 1 Mamma and 8 pups for the 10 weeks I fostered was time consuming and very expensive, much less what these 3 dedicated ladies take on every day of their lives, and with always more animals in need. I believe it is past time for these ladies to be fully brought to the attention of Boquete residents, and since I am leaving for an extended period of time I am hoping we can band together to offer them some financial assistance. Amigos de Animales cover some expenses, but nowhere near enough. I am hoping to find (a) ongoing monthly sponsors for their cause and/or (b) donations to help them with the amazing selfless work they do. I am very thrilled and proud to say that our very talented Robyn Cole has already pledged a percentage from her next two encaustic workshops, and I am hoping that will start the ball rolling. Anyone willing to help please email me at vickiwhittle@me.com, or ph 6632 1657, and I will organise a pick up. Those of you we will see at our farewell, I will have a donation/sponsor box Thank you for taking the time to read this all the way through, Boquete is such a generous wee community, and I know there are lots of charity organisations relying on your assistance. I appreciate your time warm regards to all, as always Kiwi Vicki
