BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE
ENCAUSTIC WORKSHOPS!
Many people in our community have expressed an interest in learning about encaustic painting -- painting with molten beeswax and pigments. If you have seen my 3 foot x 7 foot artwork called "Art, Music, Literature -- A Boquete Tapestry" on the ground floor of our new Boquete Library, then you have seen the myriad ways encaustic can be presented.
And now you have the opportunity to learn it for yourself! I have scheduled Two Beginning Workshops and Two Intermediate Workshops:
BEGINNING WORKSHOP: (Single-Day)
Students of all abilities and levels are invited to learn about encaustic painting in history and its contemporary processes.
Topics covered include:
• selecting appropriate grounds
• encaustic medium preparation
• mixing wax medium and pigments
• fusing tools and fusing layers
• using techniques such as embedding, accretion, intaglio and others.
Throughout the day we will discuss resources for setting up and maintaining a home encaustic workshop. The four hours are intensive, but highly enjoyable. Students will leave the hands-on workshop with their own 10" x 10" encaustic painting and a solid foundation with which to further explore this unique medium. In addition, you will have learned how to handle supplies and will be exposed to a number of tools and techniques. You will have become proficient and confident in handling these artist materials and you will develop your creativity as it relates to this medium. By the end of the day, you will learn the techniques used in these three paintings:

I will reply with the date that is being held for you and payment details. Available dates are: September 3rd - Tuesday, and Tuesday September 10th. Workshops are held in my Monte Verde Studio in Alto Lino, just north of town. Map will be sent upon registration.

INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOP: (Single-Day)
Students who have taken my Beginning Workshop this year or last year will want to enroll in this workshop. A brief recap of what was covered in the Beginning Workshop leads right into exposure to the following:
• fusing with irons
• creating grooves with carving tools

• shellac burn -- light your art on fire!!
