What is the difference between a dehumidifier and the Air Oasis machines?

A dehumidifier is a household appliance used to help reduce the level of humidity in the air. They are generally not energy-efficient and are limited in their ability to stop or prevent mold. Mold, a type of fungus, requires moisture, oxygen, warmth, and food, which includes paper, wallpaper, wallboard, sugars (fruits, vegetables), fabrics, body oils, wood, dust, etc. All of these conditions are necessary for it to grow. Lowering the level of humidity helps but does not stop mold. In addition, dehumidifiers do not address any of the other harmful aero-allergens that we deal with here on a daily basis.

Air Oasis Sanifiers, unlike dehumidifiers, are actually designed to destroy mold, mildew, viruses, bacteria and other aero-allergens. They produce catalysts (a unique combination of catalytic molecules, hydro peroxides and super oxide ions) that radiate through a house providing 100% silent air purification.

How do the Air Oasis products work?

(This is a little technical) The Air Oasisâ„¢ air purifiers utilize state-of-the-art, energy-efficient technologies unique to any product currently on the market today: AHPCOâ„¢ Cell (Advanced Hydrated Photocatalytic Oxidation Cell) - the next generation in catalytic oxidation. The AHPCOâ„¢ Cell technology is the latest advanced oxidation technology that consists of a proprietary, high-intensity broad spectrum UV tube in a hydrated catalytic matrix cell that creates hydro peroxides, super oxide ions, hydroxyl ions, passive negative ions and ozonide ions that circulate throughout your home or business, providing 24-hour protection against not only airborne mold, but also bacteria, viruses, odors and VOC's (volatile organic compounds). All of these air pollutants combine to cause the allergic effects common in Panama and listed below.

What health conditions are caused or made worse by mold & mildew?

In addition to its being an unpleasant odor and sight, mold can cause harmful effects to human health that might turn to allergic infections and toxic reactions.The most common allergic effects are:

• Nasal congestions and irritation
• Mucous membrane irritation
• Allergic reactions - Rhinitis and Asthma
• Sneezing and coughing
• Throat and eye irritation
• Difficulty breathing
• Asthmatic attacks
• Itching and skin stains

Again, it’s important to note that the Air Oasis Sanifiers effectively destroy mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, odors and VOC's, as opposed to merely reducing humidity.

What maintenance is required for the AO units?

For the 250 Mobile units, one should plan to replace the AHPCO UV Cell once a year. In addition, the filter should be brushed off periodically, depending upon the amount of dust being filtered.

For the tower units (AO1000G3 & 3000XG3) , the AHPCO UV Cell should be replaced only every 3 years. There are no filters to be replaced or cleaned, nor are there plates to be wiped off.

 

What is the warranty on the Air Oasis units?

The Air Oasis Mobile 250 units and AHPCO cells are covered for 1 year.

The Air Oasis 1000G3, 3000XG3, and 5000 units are covered for 3 years. The associated AHPCO Cells are covered for 2 years.

 

How often do I run my AO units?

Since we live near forests and rivers, there is a high concentration of mold colonies. You cannot keep spores and many other allergens out of your home, thus the importance of regular home cleaning and maintenance, eliminating and correcting areas which have had water leakage or infiltrations, and regular use of Air Oasis “sanifiers.” This combination provides the very best results.

 

Which AO Units are in stock and how much do they cost?:

We carry the following units:

• AO Mobile 250 which covers up to 250 square feet, normally being closets, bathrooms, small bedrooms and for travel. This unit also comes with an adapter for use in automobiles.  Priced at $165.
• AO 1000G3 which covers up to 1000 square feet, normally used for smaller open living areas, larger bedrooms and closets.  Priced at $425.
• AO 3000G3X which covers up to 3000 square feet, normally used for larger open living areas and bedrooms and high contaminant areas.  Priced at $550.

How did Air Oasis Panama begin?

After coming to Boquete, we learned quickly about how mold causes health issues. We noted that things didn’t smell right in our rental home, but assumed it was due to the house being closed up and that it would get better. We cleaned everything from floor to ceiling and left the windows open to air the house out. After a few weeks we had friends visit us and they asked if we had ever thought about air purifiers. We asked if they really thought they worked and their reply was, “yes”! About two months went by and I began having headaches, bronchial issues and even coughing up blood. We had to find a solution! After a lot of research and comparing available air purifiers, we decided to invest in Air Oasis Sanifier units. We ordered our units plus a few extra since a couple of our neighbors expressed interest in trying them too. In a very short period of time, we all were impressed with the results. One person led to another and then to another and Air Oasis Panama was established. Finally a truly effective, energy efficient product was available to provide a solution to a very real challenge – how to help people with their upper respiratory problems due to mold, mildew and other aero-allergens.
