Dearest Friends of Alouatta,
Thank you so much for your interest, support, or recent visit to Alouatta Sanctuary. You should rest easy knowing that 100% of the proceeds from your donation provide for the orphans of the rain forest, help reforest the land we share with the Ngäbe-Buglé tribe, and educate Conservation Biologists from around the world!
If you are interested in getting MORE involved, please join us this summer for our Conservation Exploration Summer Seminar. Or tell someone about it! It is going to be so much FUN, not to mention, contribute greatly to conservation efforts!
Alouatta Sanctuary's Conservation Exploration will approach topics of sustainable development and community conservation through direct collaborative action. It will begin by investigating the economic, social and cultural pressures that face growing community conservation efforts by indigenous cultures. Participants will be involved in actual creation of solutions and livelihood alternatives that avoid environmentally destructive practices and promote the protection of healthy habitat. This will be achieved through collaborations with the indigenous peoples of the Ngäbe-Buglé during visits to the village of Chorcha, situated 5 km from the Sanctuary. Collaborative projects that arise from these sessions will involve interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development and community conservation that are meant to achieve benefits both to the livelihood of the Ngäbe-Buglé and tropical forest conservation in general.
Participants will be introduced to the wildlife rehabilitation and biological conservation work done at the Sanctuary. By observing the lives of the rain forest orphans currently in rehabilitation at the Sanctuary, the importance of conservation may become visceral and imperative. A portion of the program will be given to individuals for their own reflection. Meditation courses leading up to a "spirit quest" will be offered to those interested. The program will culminate as participants work with Alouatta staff and other program participants to develop a visionary conservation micro-project to be carried out during their stay or in the months that follow, and it may even grow into a lifelong commitment!
Check out the flyer for this program and PLEASE send it on to any friends or family you feel might be interested.
Your support means everything to us.
Warm Regards,
The Happy Team & all the Monkeys
at Alouatta Sanctuary
